Two more Disney resorts just reopened.
Disney Vacation Club’s Vero Beach Resort and Hilton Head Resort reopened today and some Disney Vacation Club members headed back to get their Disney vacation routines up and running again. We spoke to Lauren Nitz, a DVC member with a stay at Vero Beach, to learn about some of the new health measures.
DVC members have returned to Vero Beach Resort and there are some changes to the health and safety protocols. When you check-in, you’ll notice physical distancing stickers on the ground to keep you distanced in line. There are also hand-sanitizing stations at every entrance and throughout the lobby. There are no temperature checks at this time.
There is some signage that explains the standard Disney warning about the global health crisis. The statement asks guests to “help keep each other healthy and safe.”
Some offerings are currently unavailable. Communal areas have been changed to allow for physical distancing and much of the tech in common areas is unavailable.
The pool, slide, and splash area are open with no time limit. Though masks are required in areas around the resort, they are not required on the beach, at the pool, or in the pool area. Chairs around the pool and on the beach are distanced in groups of two, three, and four and there are signs asking guests not to move the chairs.
Similar to a measure we’ve seen elsewhere, the playground is closed for now.
There are fewer options available at the quick-service spot, but most options are still available. There is a similar procedure to some spots in Disney Springs where a Cast Member fills your fountain drink for you to limit contact at the beverage station. Refillable cups are in use, but a Cast Member will give you a fresh cup to pour into your mug. Unfortunately, Dole Whips are unavailable at this time.
In the rooms, there are postings about the new health measures. You’ll notice that coffee pots have been removed and remotes have been sanitized and wrapped. There were still towels on the bed to welcome guests.
It looks like everything is still available at Eb and Flo’s Rentals. You can also still play putt-putt or rent bicycles.
It will be interesting to see if these health measures carry over to the reopening of Disney World Disney Vacation Club properties on June 22nd. Stay tuned to DFB for all of the latest updates on reopenings and health measures!
