Just before the start of Pixar Fest on April 26, Disneyland Resort has been transformed with a variety of decorations for the event, which will run through August 4.
Pixar Fest Decor in Transportation Plaza
The decor begins before you enter the parks, with billboards in Transportation Plaza. This one includes Mamá Imelda and Miguel from “Coco.”
Another billboard depicts Meilin Lee in her red panda form with her friends Miriam, Priya, and Abby from “Turning Red,” all dancing in front of the Pixar Pal-A-Round.
In this area and the esplanade, we heard a Pixar Fest loop playing over the speakers.
Walkway to Downtown Disney District
On the walk toward Downtown Disney District, there are lamppost banners, with each one themed to a different Pixar movie. This red one is for “Toy Story” and features Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, and Slinky Dog.
Like the “Turning Red” billboard, this banner shows red panda Mei with Miriam, Priya, and Abby.
The “Coco” banner has Mamá Imelda, Héctor, and Miguel.
On “The Incredibles” banner, there is Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, and Frozone.
Downtown Disney District
The Buzz Lightyear and Woody props in “Cars” form that were spotted being driven to Disneyland Resort last month have been placed in their location for Pixar Fest. The photo opportunity can be found in Downtown Disney.
The doors to a Cast Member area have been covered with a Pixar Fest wrap.
It features characters from “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles,” “Up,” “Toy Story,” “Brave,” “Wall-E,” “Ratatouille,” and “Elemental.”
Esplanade
At the esplanade, hanging tassels in red, yellow, and blue were attached to the lampposts in the area, in addition to the already-added banners. Since being installed, the tassels have seemingly already been removed.
The tassels blew freely in the wind, adding some kinetic energy to the area.
The Pixar Fest sculpture in the esplanade has been fully unveiled, matching the structures we’ve seen inside of the parks.
The structure and its base are covered in familiar Pixar characters, new and old.
Disney California Adventure
Continuing the design element inside Disney California Adventure, guests can find another Pixar Fest sculpture.
In this one, you can see Joy, Sadness, and Anger from “Inside Out;” Mamá Imelda, Dante, and Miguel from “Coco;” Mater, Sally, and Lightning McQueen from “Cars;” Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, and Frozone from “The Incredibles;” and Joe and Mr. Mittens from “Soul.”
New lamppost banners line the street. This one is themed to the “Toy Story” franchise.
This banner features characters from “Coco.”
Here, you can see a “Finding Nemo” banner.
This banner highlights “Cars.”
The emotions of “Inside Out” take over this banner.
And this banner is all about “The Incredibles.”
Disneyland Park
Fantasyland Theatre
Finally, Fantasyland Theatre in Disneyland Park has been given a makeover for Pixar Pals Playtime Party, an interactive Pixar-themed show.
In addition to the show, the area will be home to games, photo locations, activities, and Pixar Shorts playing on the big screen during Pixar Fest. “Luca,” “Monsters Inc.,” “Cars,” “Onward,” “Up,” and “A Bug’s Life” will all be highlighted. There will also be meet and greets with characters from films including “Elemental” and “Luca.”
This setup, which will include lager-the-life spools of thread for children to sit on, per the concept art, is themed to “A Bug’s Life.”
Through the railing, you can spot the van, Guinevere. from “Onward.” Beyond that is a Radiator Springs set up from “Cars.”
On the left side of the stage, Boo’s door from “Monsters Inc.” is situated.
This photo opportunity area is themed to “Luca.”
A large Pixar Ball backdrop will be home to character meet and greets.
Balloons from Carl’s house in “Up” can be seen behind a wall on the stage.
Outside of the theater, there is a massive Pixar wall photo opportunity, complete with the Luxo Jr. lamp.
Guests can also enjoy activities day and night at Club Pixar in the Hollywood Backlot section of Disney California Adventure.
