Earlier this year, Disney announced two rule changes that will affect how you will tackle Disney World in 2025. Let’s take a look at these changes and what you need to know about each!

New Disney World Hotel Cancellation Policy

Beginning in 2025, Disney World is changing its hotel cancellation policy.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The new policy states that 2025 arrivals for room-only Disney World hotel reservations can cancel their reservations UP TO EIGHT (8) DAYS before their arrival without penalty.

Art of Animation

Prior to 2025, hotel reservations could be canceled up to five days before to avoid penalty. The new change is more restricting for Disney World hotel guests, taking away three days that used to be allocated in that cancellation window.

Now, if you cancel 0-7 days out from the reservation, your deposit (the cost of a one-night stay) will be forfeited. So make sure you keep this in mind when booking your 2025 vacation.

Wilderness Lodge

As for vacation packages, rest assured that those cancellation policies have not changed. These packages, which include a room and park tickets, can be canceled up to 30 days out from your arrival date for a full refund. From 2 to 29 days, you can cancel but will be penalized a $200 cancelation fee (prices are subject to change). Keep in mind that if you cancel the day before or on the day of your arrival, the penalty is a complete forfeiture of the entire package cost.

As was the case in 2024 and years prior, changes to a package that includes a hotel stay will impact the entire package. So you can’t cancel just the hotel if you’re canceling a package.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

As we are now in hurricane season, you may wonder what happens with Disney’s cancelation policy in the event of an impending storm. Disney World does alter its cancelation policies during times when severe weather threatens, and you can keep following us here at DFB for news in those situations.

We’ll continue to keep you posted on any Disney World hotel policy changes, so stay tuned for any updates!

DAS Changes

This next change has already taken effect but it could still alter your next Disney World trip.

Notably, the Disney Disability Access Service (DAS) looks different than it did in previous years, and all accounts point to the new change continuing into 2025. The DAS is a program that accommodates Disney Parks visitors with disabilities that make staying in extended queues difficult. This service extends to family members of those that are affected.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad can have really long lines!

The service allows you to schedule a return time that does not provide immediate attraction access, but provides relief for those who struggle with the wait. Redemption of a return time allows you to book another return time for the same or a different attraction and operates similarly to Virtual Queue access.

So what’s changing? Already in effect, the party size for DAS restrictions have changed from six people to “immediate family” or four other people. Disney has made this adjustment in an effort, as they say, to minimize the number of people wrongfully taking advantage of the DAS program.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Another DAS change is that DAS enrollment and registration has been extended from 60 days to 120 days. While limitations have been put in place, this change is more of a lax and welcome one that doesn’t make you re-rgister for 120 days.

The last change is a new “return to queue” process that helps people who may need to leave lines.

These changes comes simultaneously with Disney partnering with Inspire Health Alliance — the group responsible for the COVID vaccination information for the Disney Cruise Line.
