Disney announced on Tuesday that Genie+ would be rebranded to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lane would become Lightning Lane Single Pass starting on July 24. On that same day, Walt Disney World guests can start purchasing the passes in advance of their trip and select some Lightning Lane experiences.

Unfortunately, guests traveling from outside the United States will not be able to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass until they arrive in the U.S. This means international guests arriving the day before or the first day of their theme park visit won’t be able to make selections until that day.

Lightning Lane selections will still be available the day of although could be limited due to guests purchasing and planning in advance. Walt Disney World hotel guests (in the U.S.A.) will be able to purchase and reserve Lightning Lane options seven days before their arrival. All other guests will be able to make selections three days before. If international guests happen to arrive in the states during those windows, they can make advance selections.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is similar to the old FastPass+ system, except it’s not free. Guests will be able to make selections before purchase and Disney will reintroduce attraction tiers.

Lightning Lane Single Pass is functionally the same as the current Individual Lightning Lane option, which provides line-skip access to high-demand rides (like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run) separately from Genie+ / Multi Pass.

Advance Lightning Lane planning will not be available at Disneyland Resort.
