FULL LIST of Shows on the Disney Magic Cruise Ship

There are a few key things that set Disney’s cruise ships apart from other cruise lines. One thing is the theming — Kids love meeting their favorite characters, like Mickey and Minnie, on board! Another perk is the destinations, because on certain cruises you get to go to Disney’s private island destinations, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay. But one of the biggest reasons why people choose Disney over other cruise lines is the incredible entertainment!

Disney Magic

The evening shows on Disney cruise ships are beautifully done. The stories are enchanting, the characters are familiar and fun, and the music is excellent! We recently sailed on the Disney Magic, one of the older Disney cruise ships, and really enjoyed the whole experience, especially those shows. Here’s a FULL LIST of all the evening shows, with our review of each one included!

On a Disney cruise ship, there are usually a few different evening shows, so make sure you don’t miss any of them! You can find the itinerary for your cruise on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app — check that itinerary to find out which show is playing on which night.

Disney Magic

All of the evening shows on the Disney Magic took place in the Walt Disney Theater.

Tangled: The Musical

Tangled: The Musical is a Broadway-style show based on the 2010 Disney movie Tangled, which tells the story of Rapunzel!

Popular characters like Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Mother Gothel, and Maximus all appear in this show. The storyline is the same as the movie: Rapunzel escapes from the confines of her tower with the help of Flynn, and the two must defeat ruffians, thugs, and Mother Gothel to find their happily ever after.

Some popular songs from the movie make an appearance, but there are also a few new tunes: “Flower of Gold,” “Wanted Man,” and “When the Princess Returns.”

Just wait until you see the puppet used to portray Maximus — it’s amazing!

We LOVED this show when we saw it recently! The actor who portrayed Mother Gothel was especially incredible. All of our favorite songs from the movie were included, which was a definite plus. And that Maximus puppet was a huge hit with the audience and definitely hilarious!

Twice Charmed

Twice Charmed is an original twist on the Cinderella story. The story picks up where the first Cinderella movie left off, answering the question, “What if Cinderella never got a chance to try on the glass slipper, leaving those nasty stepsisters with another chance to get their claws into Prince Charming?”

Although many characters from the movie make an appearance (including Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, Gus and Jaq, stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella, and Lady Tremaine the evil stepmother), there’s a NEW villain featured in this story: the wicked Fairy Godfather, Franco DiFortunato!

DiFortunato aids Cinderella’s wicked stepmother in her villainous plans, transporting everyone back in time “on a mission to destroy the fateful glass slipper before Cinderella can don it.”

The music in this show is top-notch. It was created by Alan Zachery and Michael Weiner and combines pop and rock ‘n’ roll elements. Most of the music is original to this stage production, but two songs from the movie are also featured: “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”

This show was by far our favorite of the three! It felt so silly and crazy and we loved the chaotic vibes. It took some inspiration from Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time, but it wasn’t fully that movie. If you’re a stickler for the classics and don’t like remakes or sequels, this show might not be to your taste, but it’s still a fun concept, and it was so well executed by all the performers. We wished we could watch it again on our cruise — We definitely would’ve gone back if it had played another night!

Disney Dreams, An Enchanted Classic

This show is the most original out of the three, merging several different Disney stories together into one tale. Characters from a few different Disney classics all come together to teach a young girl about the power of her dreams.

Anne Marie is a young girl who is having a hard time believing in fairy tales and dreams. As she begins to fall asleep one night, she’s visited by several Disney characters (“A Christmas Carol” style), and each one tells their story — complete with songs — to help her learn how to believe in herself.

You’ll see characters from Peter PanPinocchioCinderellaAladdin, and more.

This show was a very sweet note to end our cruise on. The storyline is enchanting, but we wouldn’t say it’s Disney Cruise Line’s best original play. It was exciting to see a bunch of popular characters (including some of our favorites!), but we don’t think it can really compare to Disney Believe, the show that’s on the Disney Dream cruise ship. It’s a fun show — and very fun to sing along with all the Disney songs — but not necessarily a must-see in our opinion.
