Scaffolding Erected Next to Test Track Access Door in EPCOT

Construction work is underway on the Test Track reimagining in EPCOT. The ride closed on June 17 to get its second major update, this one inspired by World of Motion, which Test Track replaced.

Construction walls are in front of the Test Track building in World Discovery. They feature the ride’s new logo and say the updated attraction is “Coming Soon.” Beyond the construction walls are various materials — mostly plywood.

There are two giant dumpsters for trash. A golf cart is parked near the entrance. There are no significant changes to the facade yet. Concept art shows it without the themed scaffolding and with a new sign.

Another dumpster is around the corner. We saw a crew member walking on this side, too, heading towards the Test Track SIMPorium entrance.

People walk across a long, elevated pathway under a cloudy sky. Behind them, a large circular structure and surrounding greenery are visible.

Near the back of the attraction, scaffolding is up next to the track. Crews began moving construction equipment into this area before the ride closed.

Above that scaffolding is an open set of doors. They’re visible from across the lagoon, over the Odyssey pavilion.

These access doors are for equipment. They’re located near the ride’s Capability Test.

Test Track first opened in 1998. Its first major reimagining was in 2012, when it was closed for almost eight months. Disney has not announced a reopening date for Test Track 3.0.

Imagineers plan to bring “that spirit of optimism” from World of Motion “to the next iteration” of Test Track, which is still sponsored by Chevrolet.
