In case you missed it, some MASSIVE changes are coming to Disney World!

I know it feels like yesterday, but Genie+ was introduced back in 2021, and just recently Disney announced that they’re doing away with it. They’re replacing that system with a new one — Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. While you’re still learning the ins and outs, let’s talk about which rides you should book first with it!

Before we get into which rides you should book, here’s a brief primer: Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass will be starting on July 24th.

When the new system is in place, you’ll be able to:

• Make Lightning Lane plans before you get to Disney World
  • You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations seven days before your trip if you are staying in a Disney World hotel
  • You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations three days before your trip if you are not staying in a Disney World hotel
• Choose your attractions and times before purchasing
• Book Lightning Lane reservations for multiple vacation days, all in a single day

When it comes to booking, the rides are organized into tiers (which is reminiscent of the old FastPass system). Let’s start with Lightning Lane Multi Pass:

Here are the rides and tiers for Magic Kingdom:

Here are the rides and tiers for EPCOT:

Here are the rides and tiers for Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

About Disney’s Animal Kingdom, all of the rides are in the same tier:

Now, when it comes to Lightning Lane Single Pass, these are the available attractions for each park:

• Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run
• EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
• Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Rise of the Resistance
• Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage

Now that we have ALL of that out of the way, let’s talk about what you might want to book with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. First things first, it’s going to depend on which park you choose. Let’s take them one at a time starting with Magic Kingdom.

Again, the first tier includes:

• Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

The second tier has:

• The Barnstormer, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world”, Mad Tea Party, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland Speedway, and Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid

You really can’t go wrong with any of the rides from tier one, but let’s choose Tiana’s Bayou Adventure since it’s the newest ride. For tier two, we’d recommend choosing two rides that typically have the longest waits or are most iconic, so maybe Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.

So for this example, at Magic Kingdom, we’d pick Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Let’s move on to EPCOT. The first tier includes:

• Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Soarin’ Around the World.

The second tier has:

• Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Living with the Land, Mission: SPACE, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Spaceship Earth, and Turtle Talk with Crush.

For tier one, let’s choose Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure since it’s the newer of the three rides. For tier two, we’d recommend choosing two rides that typically have the longest waits or are most iconic, so maybe Journey into Imagination with Figment and Spaceship Earth.

So for this example, at EPCOT, we’d pick Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Journey into Imagination with Figment, and Spaceship Earth.

Let’s move on to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The first tier includes:

• Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, and Slinky Dog Dash.

The second tier has:

• Alien Swirling Saucers, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, Disney Junior Play & Dance!, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Muppet*Vision 3D, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania!

For tier one, using the same logic, let’s choose Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway since it’s the newer of the four rides. For tier two, we’d recommend choosing two rides that typically have the longest waits or are most iconic, so maybe The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania!

So for this example, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’d pick Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania!

Lastly, let’s move on to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There’s only one tier with these rides in it:

• Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Feathered Friends in Flight!, Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!, It’s Tough to Be a Bug!, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Naʻvi River Journey.

Let’s keep it consistent (using the same logic) and choose Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, and Kilimanjaro Safaris.

So for this example, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’d pick Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, and Kilimanjaro Safaris.
