The Disney Treasure cruise ship left its German shipyard on Wednesday to complete a 20-mile river trip bound for sea trials before its Port Canaveral debut, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Disney Treasure Leaves Shipyard
The Treasure’s first float out was in August. This week, it left the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, where three previous Disney Cruise Line ships were also constructed. The ship will travel on the Ems River to Eemshaven, Netherlands. It will then make its way into the North Sea for sea trials.
Hamburg Port live-streamed the Treasure slowly leaving the shipyard at 3 to 5 miles per hour. The video offers some of the first views of the ship’s completed exterior, including the Captain Hook and Peter Pan stern figures and the Voyager Minnie bow medallion. Watch the video below.
The Treasure is approximately the same size and layout as the Disney Wish, which launched in 2022. It has a gross tonnage of 144,000 and 1,246 staterooms, the last of which was installed in July. It will feature the first Haunted Mansion Parlor, a bar that will also be on the upcoming Disney Destiny. A new Broadway-style show, “Disney Tale of Moana,” will debut on the Treasure. Disney announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that they are planning to build four more ships in addition to those already announced, for a total of 13 Disney Cruise Line ships sailing by 2031. The Disney Treasure’s maiden voyage out of Port Canaveral will begin on December 21, 2024. The Disney Destiny will set sail from Port Everglades on November 20, 2025. The Disney Adventure will sail out of Singapore beginning in 2025. Oriental Land Company, the owners of Tokyo Disney Resort, are also creating a ship expected to launch in 2029. Meyer Werft is expected to construct all upcoming Disney Cruise Line ships.
