Paint the wooden cutouts and wooden dowels with a base coat of acrylic paint in colors that match the flower or heart signs from “it’s a small world.” Allow to dry completely. For any shapes that are not found already pre-cut (like petals, leaves, or small dots), the desired shape can be drawn onto thin basswood sheets and cut out with scissors.
Small dots can be punched out from the wood sheet using a hole punch. Paint any basswood cutouts with a base coat of the acrylic paint. Allow to dry completely. If more details are needed, use fine-tipped paintbrushes to add details atop the base coat of paint.
If you’re using letter stickers, paint them with acrylic paint in colors that match the signs from “it’s a small world.” Paint markers can also be used to write out any script.
Add any final paint details with a fine-tipped paintbrush. Hot glue the finished wood pieces together to create mini versions of the iconic flower, heart, or leaf signs.
And, there you have it, friends! “There’s so much that we share,” and we’re glad that we could share this adorable Disney DIY with you! Be sure to tag us on social media if you make the “it’s a small world” Flower Pot Stakes so we can see your creativity!
One of the most unique parts about Epcot’s World Showcase (beyond all the food, of course!) is that each pavilion is staffed by cultural representatives from each country. These Cast Members help to immerse you in each country and can teach guests fun phrases and facts about that location!
Takumi-Tei Cast Members in Epcot’s Japan
But according to LaughingPlace.com, when Epcot reopens, these cultural representatives may be missing from World Showcase. A reported agreement between the Walt Disney Company and labor unions states that Cast Members who “do not meet the culturally authentic theming at Epcot may be temporarily assigned to work in positions which are otherwise reserved for cultural representatives.”
Of course, we will be sure to check out this situation once Epcot reopens (because situations can always change, especially in Disney World) and we will report back on our findings. What Epcot and the rest of Walt Disney World will look like upon reopening is yet to be seen, but be assured we’ll be there when it happens!
While we totally have been craving some churros and all the snacks that Disneyland has to offer, we’ve got a way to take a trip to the parks straight from your kitchen!
Tangaroa Terrace is a great spot to chill out before hitting up the pool at the Disneyland Hotel. And, you can get grilling with you family this weekend by making Tangaroa Terrace’s famous Hawaiian Cheeseburgers (they’re just as good as they sound)!
Hawaiian Cheeseburger
Yup, our stomachs are already growling!! So, let’s get cooking and grilling with this Hawaiian Cheeseburger recipe from Disneyland!
Ingredients:
You’ll need several ingredients to make the different parts of the Hawaiian Cheeseburger! First, you need to make the Slaw Dressing Green Papaya Slaw, Teriyaki Sauce, and Burgers separately before putting them all together to make one of the most tropical sandwiches around!
Then, you can stack your burger high and snack on your AWESOME Disney recipe masterpiece!! If you’re looking for a way to treat yourself this week, the Hawaiian Cheeseburger is definitely the way to do it.
As we all know, Disneyland has been closed since March, and the reality is that while there are signs that it might be able to reopen sooner than initially thought, the reality is that we simply don’t know when we’re going to be able to return to The Happiest Place on Earth. One thing you may not know about me is that I tend to let the parks be the parks, and my home be my home, and you’d really never know what a geek I am by looking at my attire or decor when I’m back home. With that said, the current situation/these uncertain times/the new normal/insert-your-pandemic-euphemism-of-choice calls for a different approach, and I’m now looking for ways to bring some Disneyland back to my home.
One easy way to have a frequent reminder of Disneyland is to have a little memento with you all the time. With that in mind, check out this Sleeping Beauty Castle Key Ring. This particular one has a nod to Ariel with the coral color and the seashell, but there are plenty of key rings available to suit whatever takes you where you want to be.
On a similar note, a phone case is a great–and relatively inexpensive–way to get a little dose of magic without taking any kind of break from your normal routine. Just pick up your phone, smile when you see it, and go about you business with a little extra spring in your step. Here’s a great, classic Disneyland phone case featuring the iconic castle, but there is no shortage of options here, either.
I’ve found puzzles to be a great way to pass the time while stuck at home, so why not combine this relaxing hobby with a little dose of Disney? This Disneyland puzzle presents a great challenge at 1000 pieces, and will give you a fun way to spend a few minutes or several hours focused on something Disney-related.
I am bald as an eagle and can’t go outside in the summer without a ball cap, and a solid Disneyland cap is another low-effort way to inject your day to day with a little Disney. Check out this awesome Mr. Toad cap; you may see my friend @hocohowie sporting one if you see him out and about.
Wall art is another vehicle for a lot of Disney fans to have periodic reminders of the parks that are willing to make a more substantial commitment. It’s probably not something that you’re going to see every moment, but it provides a gentle reminder when you walk by it in your home. This particular work celebrates the Matterhorn, but there is an enormous amount of variety in terms of styles, themes, and featured attractions. Note that this is the limited edition giclèe on canvas version of this particular piece, which is entitled Yeti Or Not by artist Noah. Less-expensive prints or posters are also available for purchase.
Etsy is an AMAZING place to find Disney-themed products as well. Everything from candles, to attraction posters and ride signs, to clothing, you can find it all there, made by independent sellers. Here’s a link to a Disneyland-centric search to get you going.
So, these are a few examples, but the real point of this post is to find out what YOU do to remind yourself of Disneyland when you’re not there? Do you have your home decked out in Disney decor? Is your closet full of Disney attire? Do you wear your mouse ears around the house? Please let us know in the comments!
Just a quick note as I close: normally, this is where you might see a disclaimer saying that “we may make a commission from any products you purchase from clicking links on this page.” Well, that is not the case. We have no interest in any of the products on this page, just highlighting a few ideas for things to bring a little Disneyland into your day to day. Buy these, buy something else, don’t buy anything, whatever you like! Enjoy and let us know what you like!

Every princess (or prince) needs a furry friend to help them through the hard times, and now you can sport socks not only featuring 1, but 2 iconic Disney pet sidekicks. Meeko, the always hungry pet raccoon from the animated film Pocahontas is featured happily peeking out of these new, grey-striped tube socks accompanied by his other animal friend, Flit the hummingbird. Meeko is no stranger to getting his own merchandise. Just last year, the woodland creature got an entire […]
Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure’sPixar Pier brings the flavors of childhood together with the class and elegance of adulthood (yes, you’re classy).
Views of Pixar Pier from Lamplight Lounge
And now you can make one of these recipes in your own kitchen!
Lamplight Lounge’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Rolls use some of your pantry staples to create a snack that children and adults can both love! So put on your favorite Disney playlist and lets get cooking!
PB&J Roll Plate
Ingredients
8 slices wheat bread
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter, divided
3/4 cup strawberry or grape jelly
Preparation
For Peanut Butter Rolls
Cut crusts off bread. Flatten bread with rolling pin until bread can bind after being rolled.
Spread 1 1/2 tablespoons of peanut butter evenly on each slice of flattened bread, leaving small boarder on all sides – the peanut butter will spread as you roll.
Starting with long side of bread, gently roll up each bread slice into spiral. Cut each roll into 4 even pieces.
Place 8 pieces of rollups onto each plate, seam-side down.
For Jelly Drizzle
Place plastic quart-size freezer bag into small cup, folding back first few inches of bag over top of cup. Spoon jelly into bag, gently shaking bag to move jelly to bottom of bag. (Note: If jelly is too thick to drizzle, add small amount of warm water to jelly in small bowl and mix to desired consistency before adding to bag).
Once filled, lift bag from cup and squeeze out excess air from bag and seal bag with a few twists to top of bag. Cut bottom corner of bag with scissors.
Holding right below the twisted top of bag with one hand and guiding with free hand, gently squeeze to drizzle jelly over each peanut butter roll with zigzag motion.

With more and more locations reopening as part of the phased reopening of Disney Springs, you can finally get your ice cream craving satisfied. Ghirardelli has officially opened its Soda Fountain location, and is offering a limited menu, with options for contactless payment and outdoor seating only. As part of their return, a familiar name has returned to the menu, albeit with a new face. The Gold Rush sundae is comprised of vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and almond chips with […]
