Currently in Disney World, many weddings are in flux as coronavirus has hit the US. Many brides and grooms are having to rearrange all their plans away from their most magical wedding. I personally have seen a few weddings that have been postponed, changed to courthouse weddings, or watered down to immediate family gatherings. Regardless of whether you were planning a big Disney wedding, or a small at-home gathering, there are ways to add Disney magic in your wedding even if you can’t have your wedding at the most magical place on earth.
When I got engaged in 2015, I dreamed of possibly having a Disney wedding. We thought long and hard about whether it was possible but quickly decided it was a no-go due to elderly relatives and the size of the wedding itself. But there was no way I was going to miss the opportunity to incorporate Disney into my big day. Here are some of the subtle ways that you can add Disney into your wedding.
Bridal Shower Theme
While this is not the “wedding” itself, a bridal shower is a great way to have your Disney love shine through. The theme of my shower was “Happily Ever After.” Disney princess music was played while guests matched princesses to princes, and at the end, guests took home a Cinderella slipper filled with Cinderella-blue M&Ms.
Your Colors
When I got married, the live action Cinderella had just come out. I decided that my colors should be Cinderella blue and gold, after the movie. The bridesmaids’ dresses were the perfect blue and they wore accents of gold in their shoes, jewelry, and hair. I also got butterfly earrings for them to have an extra sparkle and an additional tie to the movie.
Decor
Along with the colors, I used a lot of blues and golds to tie the event together. One of my favorite pieces was a wooden carriage sign that had been painted blue and gold and had our initials on it. We also had gold picture frames and painted champagne glasses, all to go along with the live action Cinderella theme.
Your Wedding Hashtag
With the growth of social media, many brides and grooms use hashtagging in order to see all of their guests’ wedding photos. People put signs up or even put it on their wedding invites for guests to use the hashtag throughout the day. #Happilyeverafterwiththesmiths #sarafoundherprincecharming #canyoufeelthelovetonight could all make perfect hashtags. You can use your first names, last names, or just a simple Disney hashtag to see all of your wedding fun.
Disney Photo Booth Props
Another fun staple at weddings recently has been the addition of the photo booth. For my wedding, we ordered photo booth props from Etsy and our guests had a great time being characters like Belle and the Beast, Anna, Elsa, and Olaf, and Mickey and Minnie.
