We know there’s been some confusion over the 14-day self-quarantine order which requires all New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut residents traveling to Florida to self-quarantine for two weeks upon entry into the state, which, at time of press, is still in effect.
And we already know Disney World is taking every precaution to ensure its guests aren’t experiencing any symptoms of illness and requiring all resort guests regardless of which state they’re coming from to complete a Health Acknowledgment prior to their stay.
But now it appears things are getting even more complicated for residents of the tri-states. That’s because in addition to completing a required two-week quarantine upon arriving in Florida, tri-state residents now also being required to complete a 14-day quarantine when they return home. Theme park reporter Scott Gustin just confirmed this order on his Twitter account.
NEW: NY, NJ and Conn. just announced a 14-day quarantine for travelers from states with surging coronavirus cases.
“We are announcing a joint travel advisory. People coming from states with a high infection rate must quarantine for 14 days. ”
Cases have been on the rise in nine states including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah, and Texas. According to the Governor of New York, Andrew M. Cuomo, in accordance with local health officials they’ve have established a new travel advisory for residents returning home from these states that have been identified as having a high infection rate. The new criteria for the travel advisory that has been established is 10 infections per 100,000 residents on a seven-day rolling average or 10 percent of the state’s total population infected on rolling seven day average. Since Florida’s cases exceed this threshold, Cuomo has announced residents of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut must self-quarantine upon their return home after visiting the state of Florida. This means completing a required two weeks of self-quarantine BEFORE and AFTER your stay.
“We are announcing a joint travel advisory. People coming from states with a high infection rate must quarantine for 14 days, “ Cuomo said earlier today. This travel advisory includes not only travel to Florida, but the other eight states listed above as well.
We’ll continue to provide more updates on this developing travel advisory for tri-state residents.
