The “opening summer 2020” might have come down recently, but one thing’s for sure — while future plans for Spaceship Earth’s refurbishment and the new Mary Poppins attraction have been put on hold, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be opening someday — hopefully soon!
In fact, we’ve watched the exterior for brand new attraction take shape at the World Showcase’s France pavilion from the aerial vantage point of Disney’s Skyliner for some time, but now we’ve found a special way to see what’s INSIDE!
If you’re a Disney+ subscriber, you’ll want to tune into One Day at Disney Shorts to watch season 1, episode 33 which is all about the making of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Disney World!
Imagineering Project Manager Mike Davie takes us behind the scenes to explain how the major attraction came to be! You’ll see how everything was planned first using artist renderings…
…before eventually being built it from the ground up! It’s amazing to see something of this magnitude be built from scratch.
And luckily you won’t need a hard hat or bright orange construction vest, but you WILL feel like you’ve just stepped foot inside its massive show building for the very first time.
Since guests are “shrunken down” before the ride begins, everything in Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure has been designed to make you feel rat-SIZED! And yes, you’ll be ratting around in your very own Remy-inspired ride vehicle, complete with whiskers and a cute little pink nose! Check out the wall next to where Davie is standing — it makes him look so SMALL!
Davie says the Imagineers have labored over every detail to ensure the rat-scale was just right! They also worked hard to stay true to the original story of Ratatouille and give guests a one-of-a-kind experience they WON’T find anywhere else!
We hope you’ll have the chance to watch the new One Day at Disney episode for yourself and to see EVERYTHING that’s coming to Disney+ in August, click here!
