On Wednesday morning, Tropical Storm Gonzalo formed in the mid-Atlantic region and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) expects it to become the first hurricane of the season. They are predicting that the storm will strengthen by around 8:00 a.m. Thursday with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, moving it to hurricane status.
It is unclear at this time whether Florida will be affected as the 5-day path of the storm shows it moving slightly northwest.

Gonzalo is currently moving west at 14 mph headed toward the Southern Windward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.
Additionally, the storm is expected to drop back down to tropical storm strength by Saturday with winds of 70 mph.
