Florida may seem totally reopened, with Disney World, Universal Studios, and other theme parks reopened. But the global health crisis has led to the cancellation of one big event: the Republican National Convention.
Today, President Donald Trump announced that the Jacksonville portion of the RNC has been canceled due to a “COVID flare-up.”
“The timing for this event is not right,” Trump said, according to USA Today. Later on, he continued to say that, “I care deeply about the people of Florida and everywhere else, frankly, in this country and even in the world who would be coming into the state. And I don’t want to do anything to upset it.”
The convention was due to take place from August 24th through August 27th. When more news about the Sunshine State pops up, we’ll let you know about it and how it may impact your own travels.
