NEWS: Upcoming Avatar and Star Wars Films Officially Delayed By One YEAR!

Earlier today AMC delayed its reopening timeline.

The Rise of Skywalker Premiere at AMC

Disney’s live-action remake of Mulan had been rescheduled to premiere on August 21st, but now, Disney has just announced several movies they’ve finished or are currently working on have been delayed.

According to CNN, Mulan‘s release date has been delayed indefinitely. But that’s not all — Disney has several projects in the making including sequels to Avatar and additional Star Wars Story films. All scheduled Star Wars and Avatar films between 2021 and 2027 will be pushed back by one year.

In a written statement just issued by Avatar‘s director James Cameron, he states, “As many of you are aware, due to COVID-19, we were forced into an unexpected lengthy delay in starting the live-action filming we are currently doing in New Zealand. What most of you likely do not know is that the pandemic is still preventing us from being allowed to recommence most of our virtual production work on stages in Los Angeles.”

The first sequel to Avatar was set to debut in December 2021, but Cameron’s letter goes on to state it will no longer be possible to make that delivery date. That means the new release date for Avatar 2 is now slated for December 2022.

Disney has said a new live-action film will take the place of Avatar 2’s release date on December 16th, 2021, but they haven’t announced which movie it will be. Stay right here for all the latest details on this developing story!
