Yesterday, Cast Member previews gave us insight into some of the new Walt Disney World construction updates like the reveal of the newly freshened up Cinderella Castle.
We recently saw a curious-looking big blue wall go up in the middle of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. (Spoiler: it was installed to isolate the visiting NBA players from Disney guests.) While taking a ride on the monorail, we noticed progress on a different Grand Floridian construction project we’ve been keeping our eyes on for a while.
Progress has been made on the NEW walkway between Magic Kingdom and Grand Floridian! This walkway is potentially being built to easily connect guests from the resort to the Magic Kingdom entrance.
The resort monorails can get a little busy after the park closes. The walkway should allow you to take a leisurely stroll home, rather than crowding on a monorail.
Some of the cement walkway is fairly finished while other sections are still in the middle stage of constructions.
They are building a short bridge connecting the sidewalks so guests can take a jaunt right over the Seven Seas Lagoon!
The added bonus here is that now all three resorts located off the monorail track should be accessible by foot! You can already walk from Disney’s Contemporary Resort to Magic Kingdom. Once open, you should be able to walk all the way to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort since it is currently connected to Grand Floridian by a pathway.
As the parks and resorts start to reopen, we will continue to keep our eyes peeled for more updates and new construction. We’ll be sure to keep you informed as we revisit each resort and theme park!
Visiting Disney World soon? Here’s what you should know once it re-opens!
What do you think of the new walkway? Let us know if you want to take a stroll down this new path!
