We’re back at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check out all the updated rides, merchandise, and dining!
Hollywood Studios has gotten creative with the way they are handling character entertainment since reopening! To keep their distance, characters have been riding around the park in specially themed cars. Today, the Disney Junior Play & Dance Party show at Hollywood Studios reopened, but it looks a little different.
The dance floor is marked with big blue dots that divide the area into “party zones.” Groups are asked to groove in their zone away from the other groups.
The show has been modified a bit too. Usually, the show is longer and there’s a storyline about how the guests are waiting for Mickey to show up to the party. Prior to reopening, the Actors’ Equity Association rejected Disney World’s safety plan for performers. This included the actors from this dance party. Now, the mini-show lasts about 10-minutes and only features a DJ and the characters.
Mickey, Timon, Vampirina, and Doc McStuffins all make an appearance during the show. The characters join the party one-by-one accompanied with uniquely themed background and music!
The DJ pumps up the audience in-between the character appearances with classic Disney songs from Moana, A Goofy Movie, and Zootopia.
All the characters came out together for a quick dance-off at the end of the show!
Usually, elements like bubbles, snow, and leaves float down from the ceiling. Bubbles are the only floating element that we saw during the show today.
Overall, the new socially distant dance floor didn’t throw off our groove. The characters were fun, the DJ played some good tunes, and we enjoyed the pumped-up atmosphere! It’s a great place to cool down with the a/c and turn up the heat with our funky fresh dance moves. We’ll continue to check out all the live entertainment at the newly reopened Disney World!
