We’re back in Hollywood Studios today!
Like everyone else who’s made their way to Hollywood Studios on its reopening day, we have one attraction that rises above the others on our priority list. Rise of the Resistance is still the highest-demand ride in Disney World. To help with the lines, Disney has implemented a Virtual Queue — and it’s a totally new system than it was before the closures!
Instead of there being one big window to get a spot in the queue, guests in Hollywood Studios have three chances — 10AM, 1PM, and 4PM. It used to be that you had two hours to return when your boarding group was called; now it’s only one hour and we MISSED our window! Here’s what happened!
Today, we were able to get a spot in the first queue at 10AM. We were assigned boarding group 26, so we had a good few hours to poke around the park. When our group was called to return to Rise of the Resistance, we were due to head to our Advance Dining Reservation at 50’s Prime Time Cafe at the same time! Uh oh!
Luckily, Cast Members at Rise of the Resistance let us know that they would be lenient since we had a conflicting dining reservation. Sure enough, once our hour was up (we were still trying to get into the clean plate club!), we noticed that our Virtual Queue screen had changed to tell us that we had missed the window.
That one-hour return window is NOT super long so make sure you keep an eye on the boarding group calls if you’re waiting for your turn. Missing that window could mean you miss your chance at Rise of the Resistance for the day. Luckily, Cast Members were willing to accommodate due to our Advance Dining Reservation.
So, after our meal, we headed back to Galaxy’s Edge. When we arrived at the attraction, we found out that it was closed for technical difficulties. So, we spoke to a Guest Relations Cast Member who explained that since we’d had a boarding group and the attraction had shut down, we would be able to ride whenever once everything was up and running.
Whew! That was a close call, huh? We’ll definitely be heading back to get our Rise of the Resistance ride in later, but we might wait for a little after the attraction comes up. It’s possible that physical lines could get long as folks who weren’t able to ride flood back to the attraction.
If a similar situation happens to you, make sure you talk to a Cast Member! You never know when a dining reservation or unexpected ride closure could get between you and Rise. Stay tuned to DFB as we take you around a reopened Hollywood Studios ALL DAY!
