What’s It Like to Ride Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios NOW?

One of the most high-demand parks in a reopened Disney World is Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Rise of the Resistance

We’re not super surprised that everyone is eager to get into Hollywood Studios. After all, with limited capacities, you might think it would be simpler than ever to get your chance to ride Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We took a spin on this mega-high-demand attraction today and there have DEFINITELY been some changes. Take a look!

The Queue

Like other attractions in the reopened parks, Rise of Resistance features an altered queue to support physical distancing. Before heading into the ride, we noted hand sanitizer stations like we’ve seen in tons of other places around the parks.

Of course, social distancing stickers were featured for the length of the queue areas. With the Virtual Queue, most of the queue was walkable though.

Once you reach areas with switchbacks, you’ll notice that plexiglass barriers have been installed to keep guests safe.

This continues later in the First Order queue areas of the ride as well

But enough about the line, let’s talk about the changes we saw on the RIDE!

Changes to the Ride

Rise of the Resistance features a number of pre-shows, so we were super interested to see how these had been modified without affecting the story. All of the preshows are still being used! Each party is assigned a number to stand on and they keep the same number for all of the preshow areas. If you’re standing on “1,” keep an eye out for “1” in the next room.

Standing Zones

It was nice to see that the preshows were still running as some other attractions have cut them for the time being.

The numbers are specifically distanced in each area so as to give each party a good view of the preshows and plenty of space.

When you reach the Hangar Bay (AKA the Stormtrooper room), you’ll notice distancing markers on the ground.

These are so you get a chance to pause and take pictures while still giving others their space. When you load into the actual ride vehicles, it’s one party per vehicle. And yes, it IS scary if you ride alone. Kylo Ren is coming for YOU! 🙂

Riding Rise of the Resistance isn’t quite what it used to be, but it’s also not all that different! We noticed that the virtual queues did still fill up almost instantly like we had seen pre-closure (some things never change!), and we could see some guests disappointed they didn’t secure a chance to ride. Overall the ride is still just as fun and exciting, even with the new changes in place.

Keep checking into DFB this week as we try to answer ALL of your questions about the reopened Disney parks!
