The 1980s were a time for perms and re-runs of Footloose, but Disney World was a RAD place to be with experiences we totally miss!
However, we’re not the only ones reminiscing about the good ole’ days back in the parks! Disney has been bringing back retro Mickey shirts, hats, and even Star Wars apparel. As we were heading around Downtown Disney today, though, we were thrown for a major loop when we found a huge throwback to a 1980s EPCOT (wait, what??).
If you ever got the chance to pop into The Land in the 1980s, you’ll remember when Sunshine Seasons was the “Farmers Market” and Garden Grill was “The Good Turn Restaurant.” Back in the day, Kraft Foods was one of the primary sponsors of the pavilion as they helped provide the funds to build attractions like the Symbiosis film and Listen to the Land.
But, kids would gather all around the Kitchen Kabaret in The Land to listen to the audio-animatronics sing songs about nutrition (“Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit” was a bop). Even though the attraction has been LONG retired in EPCOT, it got a little life breathed into it over in Disneyland today!
We spotted some adorable posters showcasing attractions like Big Thunder Mountain and the Country Bear Jamboree in the WonderGround Gallery. The Kitchen Kabaret Poster caught our eye with produce and condiments jamming out during their “fresh shows daily.” And, it REALLY made us miss the long-lost show in the parks!
The $39.99 poster is created by illustrator David Perillo, who loves all the throwback and retro items across both Disneyland and Disney World as much as we do!
As we’re patiently waiting for Disneyland to announce its reopening, we’ll keep checking back in the shopping and dining district to see what other throwbacks pop back up into Downtown Disney!
Take a look at all the character Disneyland fans we spotted at the World of Disney!
