The EPCOT Transformation has been a BIG item on Disney’s to-do list for some time now.
As you might know, Future World is set to get a pretty major makeover into the new World Celebration complete with new greenery, new statues, and more! This work has been ongoing for a while and Future World is pretty crisscrossed with construction barriers right now. Well, a new permit lets us know a little bit about the progress behind the barrier!
The new permit was filed as an amendment to a permit filed earlier this year. The work is for “Project G” which has been associated with the EPCOT Transformation to work on foundations in the area of the old Pin Central location. Specifically, work has moved on to “foundations for miscellaneous AD elements.” “AD” here could stand for “architectural design.”
The firm noted on the permit is one that typically does major work for Disney so this could be a pretty largescale aspect of the project. The permit extends the due date for this segment of work to March of 2021; this could be to help contend with the delays caused by the park closures earlier this year.
Whatever the new foundational elements mean for Future World, we’re SUPER excited to see this area when it’s complete. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest pics and updates out of EPCOT!
