Character Dining Is BACK in Disney’s Hollywood Studios With a Halloween Twist!

Since the reopening, we’ve seen a few character dining experiences return.

Mickey and Pluto!

You can now see Cinderella (very quickly) at Cinderella’s Royal Table, wave at the Beast in Be Our Guest Restaurant, and get some fun photos with Mickey and some of his friends at Garden Grill Restaurant and Topolino’s Terrace. Today, character dining also returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with a Halloween twist!

Disney recently announced that Hollywood and Vine Restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios would be reopening soon with a special character dining experience.  As of today, the restaurant is officially OPEN and offering Minnie’s Halloween Dine, which features some of our favorite Disney pals dressed in their Halloween best!

Let’s take a quick look at our experience.

Check-In

When we arrived at the restaurant for our reservation, we used the Mobile Check-In feature on the My Disney Experience app. Once our table was ready, we got a text alerting us to head over to the host stand.

So, we made our way over and got ready to check out this newly reopened spot!

Atmosphere

Inside, we spotted some fun Halloween decor that makes a great photo spot for the whole family.

Check out those cool pumpkin carvings.

Pumpkins!

Such a great way to get us in the spooky mood.

Oh My Gourd! These Pumpkins Are Really Cute!

Just like what we’ve seen at many other restaurants around Disney, a paper was placed on our table instructing us to scan the QR code to access the menu online.

The tables themselves were spread out for social distancing

…and there were plexiglass dividers between several tables.

Particularly, we saw these dividers between the booth tables.

Characters!

But, let’s get to the REALLY fun stuff here — the characters! During our meal, we spotted Minnie dressed as the most colorful and adorable witch (ummm…can we get a pair of those tights please?!)…

Goofy dressed as a cowboy

Howdy Goofy!

Pluto in his adorably spooky look (it’s hard to see in the photo but he’s got a Vampire-like collar around his neck and his dog tag is in the shape of a bat as well)…

It’s Pluto!

…and of course, the one and only Mickey Mouse dressed as a vampire. Spooktacular!

Mickey Mouse

We noticed that Daisy and Donald, who are typically at the seasonal dining events in Hollywood and Vine, were missing from the mix. It looks like Pluto stepped in instead. Overall, the character experience was similar to what we’ve seen at places like Topolino’s Terrace — the characters walk around the restaurant saying hello to guests from a distance, and they will also stop to pose for socially distanced photos of them or socially distanced selfies with you.

Minnie Mouse

They also did a little dance around the restaurant to some Halloween tunes, which was really fun! You can’t get photos up close with the characters like you used to, so the interaction is certainly different, but it was still wonderful to see our friends in their Halloween best!

We know you’re curious for more details, especially about the food at this spot. The restaurant is only open now for lunch and dinner (no breakfast), and the food is being served family style, instead of buffet style like before. You can get more details about their updated menu by clicking here. We’ll be writing a FULL review of our thoughts on the food soon, so be sure to come back for that!
