Today, California Governor Gavin Newsom held a news conference where he provided an update on the state’s reopening initiatives. While taking questions from reporters, Newsom commented that the negotiations with theme parks are “open-ended,” signaling that the state has yet to produce definitive reopening guidelines for Disneyland.

It was also announced today that Orange County, where Disneyland resides, has advanced to the next reopening tier. According to the city of Anaheim’s reopening website, that means that indoor dining can resume soon!
Indoor dining was suspended statewide over the summer by Governor Newsom in an attempt to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. Since then, restaurants in Orange County and the rest of the state have been restricted to only being able to offer outdoor dining. But that could soon change!

Now, it appears that the county can reopen indoor dining at up to 25% capacity or a total of 100 people, whichever is less. Outdoor dining can also continue to be offered.

Since Downtown Disney reopened in July, they have had to comply with the statewide mandate by only offering outdoor dining at its restaurants. While the reopening of the theme parks has been delayed until further notice, we could at least start to see more sections of the shopping and dining district of the resort reopen.
