There’s no doubt about it, travel has been difficult over the past few months.
The global health crisis had a major effect on how safe it is to travel, especially internationally. With limitations on flights, countries imposing travel bans, and more; travel has been a challenge for some time. Now, the US is lifting some international travel restrictions — here’s what it could mean for your Disney trip.
According to an announcement from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), international travelers will no longer be required to undergo enhanced health screening and will no longer be routed through designated US airports. Previously, those traveling from or through China, Iran, the European Schengen Zone, the UK, Ireland, and Brazil were subject to these restrictions. These changes are in effect now.
According to Travel and Leisure, the restrictions are being lifted due to the extremely small number of passengers who have had a health issue. Per the article, “Of the 675,000 passengers screened at the 15 airports, less than 15 were confirmed to have COVID-19.”
Instead, US Government funding will be routed to “more effective mitigation efforts that focus on the individual passenger” such as health education, robust illness response, voluntary information collection, potential testing, and more.
If you’re traveling from one of the above mentioned, previously restricted areas, you may have an easier time planning a trip to the US Disney parks. Make sure to check with your country’s own restrictions to ensure that the trip home will be uninterrupted too. For local US Disney guests, we may start to see some international travelers return to the parks.
Of course, this lifting of restrictions is subject to change so stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates.
