I just wanted to take a moment and share a little taste of all the awesomeness that is the French bakery in EPCOT, aka Les Halles. As a Walt Disney World veteran who has been to Epcot many times, I still find myself choosing to pay Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie a visit pretty much every trip. Here’s why:
First, the food is consistently good. They offer everything from fresh salads and sandwiches to freshly baked bread and pastries, to amazing French desserts like Mousse au Chocolat (chocolate mousse), Créme Brûlée, or one of my favorites, the macarons. I have yet to have something there that I didn’t like or didn’t think was well made. And there are tons of options to choose from, often more than what you can find just on the published menu.
Second, I really love the atmosphere here. I love the way it is tucked into the back of the France pavilion, so you’ve already experienced much of the setting. I love the quaintness of the spaces. I love the way you are welcomed with the marvelous aroma of fresh baked bread and sweets. I enjoy the way that you are ushered and invited into the queue to then gaze upon a plethora of delicious French pastries, sandwiches, and desserts all on display. And of course, I love the way you are then greeted with an enthusiastic, ‘Bonjour!’ from a cast member, most likely from France themselves, ready to take your order. Bonjour indeed, my friend! It is certainly a good day when you have the opportunity to experience it all at the French bakery.
And lastly, the reason I love the bakery the most is probably the most unexpected and best of all: the price. Finding a great deal at Disney is seemingly harder and harder as time goes on, but I always feel I am getting a great deal for my money when I eat here. You can snag one of my favorite items, the Croissant Jambon Fromage (ham and cheese croissant), for a mere $5. If you are a light eater, this is an amazing deal for a meal! (Or you can add on many a dessert for only a few dollars more.)
So voilà, mon ami, these are the reasons I find myself back so often at the French bakery: atmosphere, consistently good food, and all at a good price. C’est magnifique!
