Right around the time the Disney parks closed, NYC’s Broadway theaters closed, ending then-running shows and halting several openings. The closure was originally supposed to be in place through January, but now the shutdown has been extended even further into 2021.

The Broadway League has announced the extension of the closure of New York City’s Broadway theaters. The suspension of all ticket sales will now continue through May 30th, 2021.

Those with tickets through the end of the extended shutdown should contact their point of purchase for details about exchanges and refunds. Dates for returning performances next summer will be announced as individual productions determine their schedules.

As a part of the announcement, President of the Broadway League Charlotte St. Martin said, “With nearly 97,000 workers who rely on Broadway for their livelihood and an annual economic impact of $14.8 billion to the city, our membership is committed to re-opening as soon as conditions permit us to do so. We are working tirelessly with multiple partners on sustaining the industry once we raise our curtains again.
