Theme park reopening guidelines were set to be issued by California this week, but the release was ultimately postponed following some pushback from Disneyland and others who urged the state not to finalize the guidelines without their input.
Now, the Mayor of the City of Anaheim, the city where Disneyland is located, is chiming in as well.
According to a Tweet posted from the City of Anaheim, Harry Sidhu, the current Mayor of the City, has issued a statement regarding the state’s issuance of reopening guidelines. Specifically, Sidhu has stated that there is “too much at stake” and that theme parks and convention centers need “attainable guidelines” that allow them to safely reopen soon and get people back to work.
Sidhu notes that if pausing for the moment on the release of these guidelines will help them reach that goal, then that is the best course of action for now. But, he insists that “time is of the essence.” Sidhu also stated that his invitation for Governor Newsom to come and visit Anaheim, and see the impact firsthand, still stands.
Over a month ago, Governor Newsom indicated that the theme park reopening guidelines were forthcoming, but some argued that was not the case. Now, it seems that the theme parks will have to wait a bit longer for the official release of the guidelines. This is a developing situation, so we will keep our eyes out for the latest news.
Disneyland Resort hotel reservations are now only available beginning early November. Check out the details here.
