While we wait for the Disneyland Resort to announce reopening plans for their theme parks and hotels, fans have been able to get their shopping and dining fix at Downtown Disney. As the only facet of Disneyland currently open, folks have certainly been enjoying a little dose of the Disney magic!
Disney California Adventure
Starting soon, guests will have more ways to shop popular seasonal merchandise items, and you won’t believe WHERE in the Disneyland Resort the shop is located!
According to Disney Parks Blog, a new shopping experience called the Disneyland Resort Backlot Premiere Shop will be arriving soon as an extension of Downtown Disney! Not a lot of details are known at this time, but what we DO know is that the shop will be located in Stage 17, which is part of Disney California Adventure!

So, TECHNICALLY…it looks like we’ll be able to shop within the park boundaries soon! For now, however, Stage 17 will most likely be the only area of the park accessible to guests.

The Disney Parks Blog post states that guests will enter “at the east side of the Main Entrance esplanade,” which indicates that a special entrance to Stage 17 could be used as opposed to the main gates at California Adventure. So, it looks like we’ll still have to wait before we are once again strolling down Buena Vista Street.

Stage 17 is typically used for special events, making it an ideal spot for a bonus shopping experience! The space will house “same favorite seasonal merchandise from World of Disney and other select Disney shops.” World of Disney has been no stranger to long lines and virtual queues, so this is could help disperse some of the crowds they’ve seen recently!
