Well, it’s official. The NBA Bubble is no more in Disney World.
Last week, the final game of the NBA Finals finished with an exciting win for the Los Angeles Lakers over the Miami Heat. To celebrate, Disney lit up Cinderella Castle in the victorious team’s colors! Now, with the NBA gone, fencing around Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is starting to come down.
As you might remember, the NBA was initially split up around Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Yacht Club. As the playoffs went on and the number of teams in Disney World dwindled, the accommodations were reduced more and more until Gran Destino Tower was the only location housing players.
Now, with the NBA gone, we’re swinging by Coronado Springs to see if there are any changes!
While the teams were here, a number of privacy-screened chain link fences were installed. Though some of them remain, we spotted workers at the resort taking down the fencing.
As we drove up, we noticed that a lot of the green privacy screens had been taken down on the way up to the building.
See! There are all those screens rolled up on the side of the roadway.
Though the chain-link remains up in many places, it has started to come down as well. We noticed a truck with rolls of the fencing loaded into the back.
As a reminder, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is set to reopen to guests on October 16th; that’s in just two days! We’ll be stopping in to report on the way things look in the reopened hotel so stay tuned.
Coronado Springs is the latest in resort hotels to prepare for reopening and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will follow soon after. As always, keep an eye on DFB for all of the latest updates!
