This morning, Disney World revealed that park hopping would return to the resort as of January 1, 2021. Although guests could still previously purchase park hopper tickets, the option to actually park hop has not been available to anyone — but that’s all about to change in the new year.

However, the system is a little confusing, and we know you have questions! We’re here to answer ALL your question so the new system makes sense!

Note that we’ll be updating this post as we learn more!

When can guests park hop at Disney World?

Guests with valid park hopper tickets or Annual Passes to Disney World can park hop as of January 1st, 2021 at 2PM. Guests will only be able to park hop after 2PM each day (although Disney has announced that these hours could change at a later date and encourage guests to check Disney World’s Park Hours page or the My Disney Experience app).

Will I still need a park pass reservation if I intend to park hop?

Yes! All guests must have a park pass reservation for the first park they plan to visit that day. You must enter that park before you’ll be allowed to hop to another though. However, no park pass reservation is needed for the second park (although this is subject to change). Guests should note that each park is still subject to limited capacity, including the park they choose to hop to.

Do I need a Park Pass for the park I plan to hop to?

Nope! As we mentioned above, as of this time, you only need the Park Pass for the park you plan to START your day in. You must scan into that park though before you’ll be able to hop to another at 2PM. No indication that guests will need to reserve their additional parks in any way has been suggested by Disney, but they did make clear that this is subject to change.

Can I park hop to ride Rise of the Resistance?

No! You must have a park pass reservation for Hollywood Studios to have access to boarding group drops for Rise of the Resistance at 7AM and 2PM. At this time, access to Rise of the Resistance is limited ONLY to guests with a Park Pass for Hollywood Studios that day. You cannot hop to Hollywood Studios from another park and get a boarding group for the attraction.

Will park-to-park transportation be available for park hopping?

Disney does have plans to resume park-to-park transportation, but it may only be available just before the 2PM park hopping time begins. A Cast Member told us that more information about this will soon be available.

Can I visit more than 2 parks in a day?

It seems likely, but Disney may clarify this in the coming days. We spoke to multiple Cast Members who informed us that as long as parks still show Park Hopping availability, you’re free to visit them. That would seem to imply if you hopped to one park and saw Park Hopping was still open at another, you’d be free to visit even more parks. Note that while we did have multiple confirmations of this on the phone, we can’t say with absolute certainty just yet that this will be the case until Disney releases additional information.
