It’s been many years since I have been inclined to chase down Happy Meal toys from McDonald’s but earlier this month when I heard that Disney had partnered with them once again for a special set of ten toys that would feature Disney attractions and characters, I was ALL IN in less than a half a heartbeat.
As of last night, my neighborhood McDonald’s was still giving out Marvel toys – cute as they are, they were not what I was looking for. I called first thing this morning and lo and behold, they’d just cracked open the box. Folks, I’m not sure when the last time was that I was this motivated to get presentable for being out in public in a fast hurry to fly out the door. Yes, both of my children are adults; so glad you asked. I am actually a five-year-old when it comes to things like this and after a nice chat with Deni this morning, it’s good to know that I am not alone. We do what we need to do to ensure joy over here.
Is it ridiculous that I love the way the toys are numbered inside of a Hidden Mickey? Maybe, but I’m okay with that.
Actually, I do remember the last time I was in a rush to collect all the things! Do you guys remember Beanie Babies? Well, I was one of those people who rushed from one Hallmark store to another for the newest one and they’re all sitting, wrapped in plastic and in a big Rubbermaid tote, in my garage taking up space. Don’t judge – it was before I had kids.
Now that I’ve returned to my office after my early morning field trip, I am thrilled to have the first piece of this adorable Disney-fied train set. See, all ten pieces will attach and form a train once you have all the pieces – a perfect adornment to sit across the top of my desk – because I will get them all. This first one is so cute! I can hardly wait to see the others.
This release couldn’t have happened on a better day, either. Today, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are celebrating their 91st birthdays! On this day 91 years ago, Mickey and Minnie appeared together for the first time in Steamboat Willie.
