Walt Disney World reopened with new health and safety guidelines to promote physical distancing in the theme parks.
The attractions were modified with distanced seating or received plexiglass barriers between rows. Crowds were considerably lower in the first few months of reopening. As the holidays draw near, crowds are beginning to increase and Disney is adjusting some attraction seating to increase ride capacity.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway has notoriously long wait times at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s the newest attraction at Disney World and located in a very popular park. Upon reopening, the ride was seating one travel group per train car. Now, plexiglass barriers have been installed on every ride vehicle, creating a barrier between rows.
The entire train car is now being filled to capacity and no rows are skipped. Guests will not be sat next to separate travel groups, but they may be seated in front of or behind other groups.
The increased capacity cut down on our wait time considerably today. The posted wait time was 55 minutes and we arrived at our train car in 35 minutes.
Disney is preparing for increased holiday crowds in various ways. Just recently, it was announced that park capacity was increased to 35%. We’ll continue to follow up with ride changes and more important Disney World news!
