Orlando Hospital To Be Among First 4 In Florida To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

This year has been a challenging one for everyone due to the global health crisis. Disney was particularly hit hard when its theme parks all over the world were forced to close, with some being forced to close a second time after reopening.

Things have certainly not returned to “normal” and the world awaits the arrival of a vaccine to slow or even stop the spread of the pandemic. With companies looking optimistic concerning a vaccine being available soon, Orlando may be one of the areas to see the release of the vaccines first.

When Pfizer announced over 90% effectiveness for its COVID-19 vaccine during clinical trials, Disney stock surged. USA Today reports that a second vaccine by Moderna has also proved 94.5% effective in its trials. And states, including Florida, are already making plans on where the first vaccines will go. WESH Reporter Matt Lupoli confirmed that four Florida hospitals will be the first to get the vaccine, including Advent Health in Orlando.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis posted a video on his Twitter account stating that the state is preparing to receive both COVID-19 vaccines in as soon as three weeks.

An effective vaccine is, obviously, a game-changer in the fight against COVID-19. The situation continues to change, though, so we’ll keep an eye out for news as it relates to Disney. In the meantime, Disneyland remains mostly closed, and we’ll continue to monitor California’s response to the recent vaccine news, as well.
