Review and Photos: Thanksgiving Dinner at The Edison in Disney World!

Happy Thanksgiving from Disney World, friends!

The Edison

The Most Magical Place on Earth is one of the best places to celebrate the holidays, and we’re glad we got to have a Thanksgiving meal here this year! While Disney is offering several Thanksgiving meal options around the parks and property, we decided to try out the holiday offering at The Edison today!

If you’ve never been to The Edison, you’re in for a real treat with the steampunk atmosphere as guests travel back in time to dine at a 1920’s-era electric company.

The Edison

The gothic-style restaurant uses gears, clocks, and unique lighting to make it feel like you’ve left present-day Disney World behind to step into a whole different time period!

Although the decorations at The Edison are distinctive enough already, there’s a bit of holiday flair placed in the lounges and dining room.

Christmas Tree

Christmas trees have clocks, goggles, feathers, and hats hidden throughout the decorations!

Although there are multiple themed rooms within the restaurant, guests were still distanced from one another. Masks are required at all times when guests are not eating or drinking.

For Thanksgiving this year The Edison was offering a fairly traditional prix-fixe meal with Oven-Roasted Turkey, creamy Mashed Potatoes with GravyHouse-made StuffingBrown Sugar Honey Glazed Baby Carrots, and fresh Cranberry Chutney for $35 per person and $19 for kids.

Thanksgiving Menu

We started our meal with the Bootlegger’s Basil that mixed up Basil Hayden’s bourbon, honey, muddled blackberries, fresh basil, and angostura bitters for $17, as well as the Amelie mocktail with lemon juice, simple syrup, mint, and soda water for $8.

The Bootlegger’s Basil was definitely strong, even though it was smooth. We were into the heavy basil flavor, but we would have loved more blackberry to balance it out. However, if you’re into sweeter drinks, the Amelie was a lovely non-alcoholic choice with LOTS of refreshing mint!

And, then we were onto our main course! Here’s the good news: the meal’s portion was a decent size at The Edison with a good mix on the plate. The turkey was moist and flavorful, even without all the gravy (which was one of our favorite parts). The carrots added a bit of sweetness to the savory dish, while the cranberry sauce was tart and tasty!

The down side, though: the mashed potatoes and roll were a little more basic in flavor without any added spices or an extra hint of flavor. And our food was somewhat cold when it was served to us at our table. Womp womp. Not the way you want to experience a special meal.

We finished our meal with The Edison’s special dessert offering for Thanksgiving, which was a Salted Caramel Cheesecake for $13.

Caramel Cheesecake

The cheesecake was creamy and sweet with SO much caramel that went well with the thick graham cracker crust. We were surprised by the coarse salt on top of the dessert, but we absolutely loved the texture it added to each bite.

Overall, we had a great time doing something a bit different for Thanksgiving this year at The Edison! Although we thought that the full plate of turkey, mashed potatoes, and more was flavorful and filling, the $35 price tag for adults and $19 price tag for kids was a bit steep for the portion that we received (and the fact that it wasn’t as warm as we would have liked).

Our Thanksgiving Meal!

As everyone chills out at home or visits the parks, we hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving this year! And, we’d like to thank YOU for tagging along with us during our adventures in Disney World throughout the holiday season!
