We’ve been all around Disney Springs tasting holiday drinks and looking at festive decor, but now we’re headed to a very special spot to try some NEW holiday treats!
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar has officially transformed into Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar with some NEW menu items so you KNOW we had to try them! Check out if these new treats are a must-get or a total skip!
Here’s a look at the menu for Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar. It includes a number of specialities like the Deviled Eggs (which we got last year), the Cranberry Kringle drink…
…Berry Merry Margarita, Jock’s Holiday Nog, and more.
But, today we focused on some of the NEW items!
Milk & Cookies
First up — Milk and Cookies by the Fireside! This special holiday item is priced at $25 and comes with Coquito with Malibu Rum with Chocolate Peppermint Gingerbread Men, Spiced Sugar Christmas Tree Cookie, and Butter Pecan Signature Cookie.
Right when it came out, we could smell the gingerbread, which quickly got us in the holiday spirit! The coquito drink itself was really good. It was creamy, dessert-like, and VERY sweet! But the amidst the sweetness, we could taste some of the spices mixed in there which gave it a good balance.
There is rum in this drink but it wasn’t too strong. It was, however, very thick — almost like egg nog. Our bartender offered to add some ice to our drink, so that might be something you can ask for to help thin it out a bit. Overall, the drink might be too rich for some, but we really liked it!
We also loved that this treat came with a separate cup, so we could pour our coquito in there…
…and then dunk our cookies in it!
Speaking of cookies, let’s talk about the ones you get with your drink! The Spiced Sugar Christmas Tree Cookie was, overall, a pretty standard cookie. It wasn’t bad by any means, it just didn’t really WOW us. There was a little bit of spice thrown in which was nice, and it was crunchy and baked well. It’s a solid choice, but probably not the best cookie you’ll ever eat.
The Chocolate Peppermint Gingerbread Men was very fragrant and had a nice balance of chocolate and spice. We LOVED the peppermint on top! It reminded us of an Andes Mint. This cookie could have used some more gingerbread spices to make it more holiday tasting. The primary flavor here was just the chocolate — which was good, but a stronger gingerbread flavor would have been nice.
And, finally, we come to the Butter Pecan Signature Cookie. This cookie was definitely the BEST ONE! It had a delicious, buttery taste with just a touch of pecan. It was sweet, but not in an overpowering way and was by far the best cookie for dunking! There was a little chocolate Mickey in the center which we wish would have been a bit thicker to add more of a chocolate taste with that butter pecan, but other than that we feel like this cookie is a total WIN!
Overall, we’d say this is a great item for sweet tooths to grab and share. It’s also very Instagram-worthy, and you can get a virgin version for the little ones (or if you just prefer not to have the alcohol).
If you don’t like holiday flavors or you don’t like sweet, thick drinks then this might be a skip for you!
Churrasco
Next, we’ll move on to Papa Noel’s Churrasco. This dish is $14 and is made of a Grilled Flank Steak served with Pumpkin Seed Chimichurri, Fried Sweet Plantains, and Spicy Aji Amarillo Peanut Sauce.
The steak itself was very tasty and flavored with some good spices on the outside. It wasn’t overly chewy and was very moist, although we would have loved for it to be a little bit more rare. It was pretty tender, but it could have been even more so if it had been cooked less.
The Chimichurri topping was delicious and really worked well with the meat. It had a flavor that was similar to a pesto sauce. The Spicy Aji Amarillo Peanut Sauce tasted like a spicy mustard and was EXCELLENT! It worked well with the meat and chimichurri and actually gave the dish quite the kick!
Finally, we come to the plantains. We were actually surprised at how good these were! They were crispy and caramelized on the outside, but soft and moist on the inside. The sweetness went really well with the spiciness of the mustard and offered a good balance in terms of flavors.
If you’re a picky eater, some of the sauces or the plantains may be a bit too adventurous for you, but if that’s not a concern then we’d say give this treat a try. It’s great for someone looking for a light but savory appetizer that’ll leave you feeling satisfied!
Sliders
Finally, it’s time to taste some of Grandma’s Favorite Sliders! These sliders are $14 and are Venison Sliders with Cranberry Bacon Jam, Tomato and Watercress.
We really enjoyed the cranberry bacon jam on top. We could hardly taste the bacon in it, but the sweetness of the cranberries went really well with the savory taste of the venison. It may be too sweet for some, but we thought it was great. The venison was nice and moist, but was fairly gamey. If you aren’t a fan of that gamey taste, then this might be a skip for you.
As a whole, we also felt like the dish could have used some spice or perhaps some mayonnaise as parts of it were a bit dry. The buns were also quite thick, which really filled us up. It was a solid slider and may be a BIG hit for those who really like venison, but if you aren’t an adventurous eater or just the idea of venison creeps you out, then you should try one of the other options here!
Overall
Overall, we’d say the dishes here were unique and tasty! It was fun to get some new items with a holiday twist, and the atmosphere at the Holiday Bar adds to the enjoyment for sure. If you try one of these dishes in the future, be sure to let us know what YOU think!
