As Ryno and I sat reminiscing about the best elements of this year’s holiday celebrations in the Walt Disney World parks, I remarked that I was excited that everyone gets to be in on the holiday snacking this year. Usually, some of the special seasonal snacks are available for park guests to purchase during the day, while others are only available for purchase during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Since the party isn’t been held this year, Disney has decided to let us all in on the action. It’s an early Christmas present in my book. Cue Oprah: You get a snack! And YOU get a snack!
My very first holiday snack of the season found me at Pinocchio Village Haus in Magic Kingdom. The Yuletide Wishes is a yule log cake (bûche de Noël), and it sells for $4.99.
Friends, this traditional French holiday treat is a chocolate lover’s dream. Thin layers of chocolate cake have been slathered with chocolate mousse and then rolled and covered with a thick chocolate ganache.
The Yuletide Wishes is rich and fudgy, without being overly so. The close attention to detail and design (a running theme among this year’s seasonal offerings) is readily apparent. The faux bois (fake wood) outer shell is lovely, as are the holly leaf and berries made out of icing that adorn the top of the cake. A chocolate covered marshmallow and light dusting of powdered sugar top everything off.
My first time having this treat won’t be my last. It’s just that good.
The Yuletide Wishes can be ordered via the mobile order function in the My Disney Experience app. If you’re in the Magic Kingdom this holiday season, please add this to your must-eat list. And then let me know what you thought!
