It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Walt Disney World, and special seasonal snacks are here to help us celebrate!
Today, we’ll be taking a look at the Let It Snow Chocolate Taco ($5.29) currently being offered at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in Magic Kingdom‘s Frontierland.
First of all, this seasonal treat gets points in the area of creativity. It’s something that’s decidedly different than other offerings, and, as was the case with the Yuletide Wishes yule log cake, the attention to detail is next-level. The dusting of “snow” on the outside of the shell is done with the lightest hand, and the snowflakes are intricate and delicate.
The shell itself, while called a chocolate taco shell, isn’t the same consistency as your standard taco shell; it’s a thin, cookie-adjacent creation. For me, the rigidity of the cookie shell tended to make the salted caramel ribbon and spiced chocolate mousse filling squish out when I tried to bite it, which made the whole thing a bit frustrating.
Speaking of the salted caramel mousse ribbon and the spiced chocolate mousse, it’s important to note that there are points to award here, as well. I enjoyed the spiced chocolate mousse, as the spice brought an unexpected depth to the chocolate. I felt that the salted caramel ribbon adorning the top of the taco tasted closer to pumpkin spice than salted caramel, but I liked the use of edible glitter, so perhaps style points are deserved. But ultimately, the snack consists of mousse inside of a thin cookie shell. And I felt that it was missing something.
All in all, while this is a treat that’s pretty to look at, is well-themed for its dining location, and was interesting to try, it isn’t one that I’ll be returning to eat a second time.
Have you tried the Let It Snow Chocolate Taco? What did you think?
