The Disney World Snacks the DFB Team Never Wants to Eat Again!

At DFB, we’re committed to all things Disney and all things food. When the two topics are brought together in conversation, things get very serious around here. Arguments get heated, friendships are lost, and blood gets spilled. 😉

Mickey Pretzel

Ok, it’s not that bad. We just know what we like and are very passionate about it! We had a lengthy discussion about what Disney World snacks we’d never eat again. Brace yourselves! Some of our opinions may surprise you.

Jumbo Turkey Leg

If there’s one thing we could all agree on, it was that those giant turkey legs can hit the road, JACK. We agreed that they are greasy, heavy, and WAY too much work to consume. There are so many other delicious things in the World, so thank you, next!

Turkey Leg

That said, the Jumbo Turkey Legs are ICONIC. This is the snack that makes you feel like a prehistoric caveman who somehow ended up in a theme park. If you enjoy feeling like you’re from the Mesozoic Era, grab one next time you smell that familiar smokey smell (when we do eat these, the cart in Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom is where we tend to go lookin’!). This is the snack that keeps on giving and can easily feed two people!

Marshmallow Wands

Put a marshmallow on a stick, maybe throw some sprinkles on it, and call it day! Some of us feel like you might as well bring your own marshmallows and eat them out of the bag. Once we got out of our childhood years, some of us found marshmallows to be sickeningly sweet and just too much! These treats are quite literally sugar dipped in even more sugar! Our apologies if you find these to be tempting treats! Maybe if they start dipping the marshmallow in Nutella we could get behind them. 😉

Mickey Marshmallow Wand

The wands taste much better when made fresh from the Main Street Confectionary. The more goodies the wands are dipped in, the better it tastes! Marshmallow fans will enjoy the wands dipped in caramel, chocolate, sprinkles, and candies!

We recently found marshmallow Mickeys dipped in buttery Werther’s Caramel in EPCOT!

Anything You Can Get at a Gas Station

Here’s a hot tip from all of us: If you can get it at a gas station…get it at a gas station. We love a bag of chips or snacks from a gas station as much as anyone just…not at Disney world. We vote for not buying that $5 bag of Doritos or a packaged rice crispy treat at Disney when there are plenty of fresh rice crispies at the bakeries and tons of other fresh-made goodies you can spend your hard-earned Disney Dollars on.

Harambe Fruit Stand

P.S. Florida is home to the amazing convenient store chain, Wawa. They’ve got good, cheap coffee drinks, chips, sandwiches, fruit, and fresh pretzels. As far as quality goods, Wawa is where it’s at! Fill up your bag with goodies and bring it to the park with you if you want to save a couple bucks and still get good gas station grub!

Pizza from PizzeRizzo

Disney had an opportunity to change up the menu when Pizza Planet became PizzeRizzo.in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Alas, the place still serves pillowy (and not in a good way), stale pizza that’s pretty disappointing. (We suggest trying the newly revamped ABC Commissary or Ronto Roasters for GOOD Hollywood Studios eats!) We’re also hoping that Disney will someday give us the Pizza Planet we deserve. Where’s our claw machine, futuristic beverage stations, and arcade games?? We’re wishing on a star for that one.

PizzeRizzo Pizza

What it lacks in great pizza, it makes up for in Muppet jokes and references. Be on the lookout for the neon sign that flashes in front of the restaurant between “The City’s Top Rated Pizza” and “It’s Rat Pizza.” Pretty cute! It’s also located right next to Muppet*Vision 3D in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Muppet fans can take in a flick starring their favorite characters then enjoy a themed lunch!

Green Milk

Blue Milk from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is iconic. It’s one of those snacks you have to get at least once to say you did. The taste could absolutely be improved, however. It’s an odd cross between a milkshake and fruit smoothie but without the creamy sensation of real dairy. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t want to throw out the feeling of drinking real Blue or Green Milk. We think everyone should try it at least once for the experience! It’s just not our favorite frozen Disney beverage.

Blue and Green Milk

We understand making the drink open to guests unable to eat dairy (the milks used are coconut and rice milks, making it dairy-free!) but the pseudo-dairy combined with a LOT of fruit flavors that are both strong and muted at the exact same time is…unique. P.S. For the adults, we suggest the boozy Blue and Green Milk. A shot of rum or tequila helps round out the taste quite a bit!

Oga’s Cantina

We came to an agreement that the entire snack menu at Oga’s could use some improvement. The Happabore Sampler is a hodgepodge of strange items like SPAM, pork rinds, and pre-shredded string cheese. We could definitely use some more cohesive meats and veggies in this dish. And, a serving of the Batuu Bits is a little like ordering a bowl of strange Chex mix that doesn’t taste particularly good.

The Happabore Sampler at Oga’s

We will say that the Batuu Bits have been vastly improved since reopening. (We hope The Happabore Platter gets the same treatment soon!) The newer addition of Chermoula Dip adds much-needed flavor to the freeze-dried veggies and chips! Plus, you’ll need a little food to balance out all those Fuzzy Tauntans you put down!

Snacks that Disneyland Does Better

We agree that Disney World could learn a hard lesson about the snacks over at Disneyland. Namely, churros and corn dogs. Disney World has been known to serve stale churros that have been sitting out for a while. Plus, all that added humidity over at Disney World is sure to do a number on the crunch of a churro! You have to get them when they’re fresh because no one likes an old churro! Disneyland’s churros are crisp, fresh, and get high marks from us! If you want a fresh churro from Disney World your best bet is to get the fresh churros from Nomad Lounge or Sunshine Churros at Disney Springs.

Caramel and Coconut Churro

As far as the corn dogs, Disney World has tried half-heartedly a number of times to serve the famous and perfect corn dogs that are so popular in Disneyland. Sleepy Hollow servedthen stoppednow serves once again a hand-dipped dog very similar to the Disneyland version that we’re happy to see very recently returned. Before that, Disney Springs’ Fantasy Faire food truck attempted to serve a hand-dipped corn dog that claimed to be the same as Disneyland but we weren’t feeling it quite like the original from Cali. Once you have a Disneyland corn dog, you won’t go back! Take notes, Disney World!

Disneyland Hand-Dipped Corn Dog

That said, you’re craving corn dogs at Disney World, you can’t go wrong with the Corn Dog Nuggets from Casey’s Corner. We could eat these fried, doughy nuggs all day long! Currently, they are being sold at Westward Ho while Casey’s is temporarily unavailable. You can also find hand-dipped corn dogs, as we mentioned, at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom. While Disney World’s version isn’t quite as good as Disneyland’s corn dogs, they still hit the spot.

Split Decisions

There were a few snacks that we couldn’t agree on. Some of the team wanted them out and others couldn’t stand the idea of parting with them. Pickles were a big one. While the pickles are fairly standard at Disney World, sometimes you just want an ice-cold, salty snack! You can find pickles-in-a-bag at the fresh fruit stands located around the theme parks.

Pickle in a Bag

Pongu Lumpia is always a little controversial. It probably stems from the age-old argument about whether pineapple should be on pizza. Some hate it and some love it. (This particular writer happens to love pineapple and cream cheese wrapped in a fried spring roll.) We suggest heading to Pongu Pongu in Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and try it for yourself! Also, did you know “pongu” means “party” in the Na’vi language? Who wouldn’t want to try a snack called Party Lumpia??

Pongu Lumpia

We’re really giving it to Galaxy’s Edge today! Kat Saka’s Kettle Corn is something many of our readers and team just can’t get behind. To some of us, the “fruity” purple popcorn has an odd, artificial taste. The red chili popcorn doesn’t quite hit the mark in terms of spice either. We’d love to have the spicy popcorn pack a punch! Either way, we have one or two team members who are STAUNCH believers in the spicy and sweet popcorn combo. Again, we think this is a snack that you need to try for yourself to form your own opinion!

Outpost Popcorn Mix

This conversation could go on forever so we’ll stop while we’re ahead! We apologize if your favorite snack made the list. But hey, we’re open to a friendly argument about Disney snacks. See if you can change our minds in the comments!

And while these aren’t our favorite things, we always give items a second chance and a shot. So, we will keep reviewing them and letting you know if they end up changing our minds.
