According to the laws of nature, food is meant to be eaten, right? As extravagant or as Instagram-worthy a snack may seem, eventually, we have to face the music and, well…destroy it.
That said, how much would YOU be willing to pay for a food item that was intentionally meant to be totally demolished? Over at The Ganachery, that question was put to the test when we came across their newest holiday treat.
Their “Christmas Cottage” is made out of milk chocolate, peppermint bark, and a whole lot of patience and attention to detail.
There are even some hidden Mickeys to be found around the cottage! This is truly a beautiful chocolate treat and definitely one of those desserts we would feel quite sad to have to dismantle.
It also happens to come with a small wooden mallet. If you’re familiar with the Chocolate Piñatas at The Ganachery, then you know precisely what these mallets are used for.
If you aren’t familiar, let’s just say that when a delicate chocolate structure meets a wooden mallet…bye-bye, Chocolate Cottage! If you’ve ever watched those home renovation shows and wondered what it’s like to smash down walls on demolition day, this might give you an idea!
It seems just a LITTLE far-fetched to justify spending nearly $50 on something that we’re supposed to smash into pieces, especially when you consider the fact that technically, we already destroy EVERYTHING we eat! On top of that, all you’re really left with is fragments of milk chocolate, which you can find for a FAR lower price.
It seems like Disney’s putting a premium on the “experience” that comes with this item (though we’ll admit, smashing this beautiful cottage with a hammer DOES sound like fun). If you’re up for it, you can find the Chocolate Cottage at The Ganachery in Disney Springs for $45. If you want a similar experience without dipping into your vacation funds THAT much, their smaller Chocolate Piñatas are also available for $28.
