Check Out 120 Pieces of Art Inspired by Disney’s “it’s a small world” in This Virtual Exhibition!

Throughout the last few months, we’ve enjoyed a whole bunch of virtual events and livestreams from Disney, The Walt Disney Family Museum, and D23!

“it’s a small world”

Now, The Walt Disney Family Museum is back at it again, this time with a virtual exhibition inspired by “it’s a small world,” where members of the global community were asked to “share their vision for a just and equitable present.” And you can enjoy it ALL from the comfort of your couch!

During their first virtual exhibition, The Walt Disney Family Museum asked members of the global community to share their vision for the future, but now they’re exploring what a just and equitable present could look like.

This is all inspired by the “it’s a small world” attraction. Disney Legend Richard Sherman, who, with his brother Robert Sherman, created the incredibly catchy “it’s a small world” song following the Cuban Missile Crisis, called its lyrics a “prayer for peace.” For this exhibition, the Walt Disney Family Museum received hundreds of contributions from all over the world including artists in Mexico, Canada, India, Singapore, and more. Ultimately, 120 pieces were selected to be displayed.

If you’re curious to see these artists’ visions of a just and equitable present, you can visit The Walt Disney Family Museum’s website for this virtual exhibitionOnce there, you’ll be greeted by this opening screen that explains the exhibit and how to move around.

Exit out of that initial screen and you’ll see the front wall shows that you’re virtually entering the Diane Disney Miller Exhibition Hall for the “its a small world: A Virtual Community Art Exhibition.”

You can then click on the circles on the floor to move through the exhibition (and even go upstairs to see more of the pieces), and click on individual paintings to find out more information. You’ll get to explore all of this artwork as you walk through a 3D-rendering of the Diane Disney Miller Exhibition Hall. You’ll truly feel like you’re in a real museum with all the little details that have been included like the virtual flooring, doors, seating, and other details.
