Disney World is no stranger to avante-garde cooking and culinary innovation. Just look at some of the crafty creations, from escargots puff pastries and BLUE barbecue sandwiches (?!) to Tomato Margaritas!

But just how far outside the box are Disney restaurants — and Florida restaurants in general — willing to go if, umm, python becomes a food source?
When we think of pythons, we usually think of Kaa in The Jungle Book or, of course, Indiana Jones. Our minds don’t generally wander to pythons on the plate!

However, as a tactic to combat the invasive Burmese pythons that have run rampant in the Everglades, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is working with the Florida Department of Health to determine if they’re safe for humans to eat, according to CNN. So that’s happening!

For some context: pythons are non-venomous LARGE snakes that have become a LARGE problem for native wildlife in south Florida. So much so that we’re at the point where scientists are considering serving them for dinner!

If they get the green light, this COULD mean python starts showing up on menus throughout the state, though it’s certainly hard to imagine Disney doing anything with snakes in their kitchens… . We’ll let you know if this DOES get approved in Florida!
