All year long, it’s been an ever-unfolding saga of news, reports, statistics, mandates, and lockdowns due to COVID-19. Finding it hard to keep up? You’re not alone!
Now with the holidays upon us, and as people tend to gather indoors in greater numbers due to chillier weather and festive traditions, the Centers for Disease Control is adding to its mask-wearing recommendations.
For the first time, the CDC is saying to wear masks anywhere indoors that isn’t your own home.
While they’ve been adamant about mask recommendations in order to mitigate the virus’ spread, this is the first time they’ve mentioned wearing a mask everywhere indoors. Considering the rising infection numbers across the U.S., the CDC is constantly updated the guidelines as they learn more about the virus.
The latest CDC report says, “Consistent and correct use of face masks is a public health strategy critical to reducing respiratory transmission, in light of estimates that approximately one half of new infections are transmitted by persons who have no symptoms.”
The report goes on to add that face masks are also crucial outdoors when six feet of space isn’t possible, and even in your own homes when family members might be infected or have had recent exposure to COVID-19. The CDC recently updated its guidelines to say that masks protect the wearer too!
While Disneyland remains closed due to tight restrictions in California, Disney World is strict with its rigorous mandates and safety procedures, including face mask requirements.
As always, we’ll keep you posted with any new CDC reports.
