One of the great things about Disney+ is the variety of programming!
We’ve loved all the National Geographic shows and movies on the service such as The Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. These shows are fun AND educational! Today, during the Disney Investor Day webcast, we learned about a ton of new movies from National Geographic coming to Disney+.
And they all look pretty amazing! First is Cousteau, which is about the life of legendary ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau (he’s the REAL guy who made the red beanie cool before Steve Zissou!).
Next up is the fourth installment of Genius, from executive producers Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. This installment of the series will premiere exclusively on Disney+ and focus on the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Secrets of the Whales documents the life of whales over the course of three years and is narrated by Sigourney Weaver. James Cameron and Brian Skerry executive produce.
A Real Bug’s Life shrinks the viewer down to size to see what life is really like for bugs and how they “make it through the day.”
America The Beautiful “is the ambitious story of North America. It’s a journey across her visually spectacular regions as seen through the eyes of its iconic species.” Get this — for the series, they received special permission to fly fighter jets with special stabilized cameras AT CLOSE TO THE SPEED OF SOUND over seven national parks that were closed to the public due to the pandemic. Could you IMAGINE how terrified those animals were hearing THAT fly overhead?!
Thor actor Chris Hemsworth stars in Limitless by director Darren Aronofsky. It’s all about the limits of the human body, as well as how to stay healthy and younger for longer. (Umm…whatever he’s doing…it’s working! )
Finally, there’s Welcome to Earth. In this series also by Darren Aronofsky, “Will Smith embarks on an awe-inspiring journey to unlock the secrets of this planet’s most extraordinary, unexplained phenomena.” Try your hardest NOT to hear Will’s famous line from Independence Day when you hear the title!
That’s a LOT of new movies coming to Disney+, in addition to all the other programming previously announced. We can’t wait!
