Looking to add some Disney magic to your New Years celebration?  Check out this recipe from the pastry chefs at Disney’s Contemporary Resort we found that will be fun for the whole family!

Spend an afternoon whipping up these no-bake granola treats with some classic ingredients, chocolate and peanut butter!

These easy no-bake granola bars should be a hit for any lover of the classic combination of chocolate and peanut butter. You may even want to whip them up a day before your visit to the parks and bring them along as a snack!

No-Bake Granola Treats from Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Makes 12 (2×2-inch) treats

Ingredients: 

• 3 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 3 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
• 1 1/2 cups granola
• 1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Directions: 

1.Melt marshmallows and butter in medium saucepan over low heat. Add peanut butter, stirring to combine. Remove from heat. Stir in granola.

2. Spoon mixture into 8×8-inch baking dish. Lightly press mixture into pan.

3. Sprinkle top of mixture with chocolate chips, lightly pressing the chocolate chips into mixture.

4. Set aside at room temperature to cool for 30 minutes. Cut into 12 pieces.

5. Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature.

When we live far from the parks, it’s hard to be away from the magic of Disney World and Disney food. We’ll be putting on our chefs hat and making these tasty treats just as Chef Mickey would!

Taking babies out in winter means trying to keep them warm, and in the summer it means trying to keep their skin from unwanted sun exposure. Is it really a holiday if Disney doesn’t make a cupcake to celebrate?

Over the past few months, we spotted cupcakes for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and way too many to count for Christmas (including one with a cool hidden Mickey)! But, if you’ve been around a while, you know that Disney cupcakes are kinda our “thing,” so we don’t typically complain when we get to try one. Today we stopped by the BoardWalk Bakery to try their New Year’s cupcake, and we have a few things to say about it!

The latest in seasonal cupcakes at the BoardWalk Bakery is the Strawberry and Champagne cupcake!

Here to celebrate the New Year, the cupcake is topped with Mickey ears, a 2021 decoration, crispy pearls, and white chocolate shavings around the edge. It’s honestly super cute!

The flavors intrigued us…strawberry and champagne sounds pretty delicious in a cupcake (in fact, Sprinkles had a cupcake that was similar a while back), so we were definitely excited to try this one. The cake is vanilla and the icing tasted pretty basic, so most of the fun is in the filling.

When we tried the filling we could clearly taste the strawberry, but the champagne flavor was noticeably absent! We were honestly a little disappointed, because we thought the two flavors would blend really well together.

It was a pretty delicious cupcake overall, and the strawberry was nice, but we really missed the champagne! Without that extra flavor, it ended up being a tad boring.

Sans champagne, it’s just a vanilla cupcake with regular frosting and a strawberry filling. Kids would probably enjoy this one, but if you’re looking for something really exciting and different, this one missed the mark for us.

The post Review: The Strawberry Champagne Cupcake Was Missing An Important Flavor in Disney World! first appeared on the disney food blog.

Every once in a while, we spot something in Disney World that catches our eye for being, well, a little random.

We were checking out the latest at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and we found something pretty interesting. Is that a chocolate sculpture of a leopard we spy? Yes, yes it is! And yeah, you heard us correctly.

Grand Floridian has a LOT of really cool details. Taking a stroll through this resort means finding all sorts of unique theming details and art pieces. Today, we came across a pretty interesting sculpture that’s been tucked in the lobby for a while now and we just HAD to give it a little spotlight.

This piece is called An African Leopard Resting in the Savanna and we originally saw it in EPCOT during the 2018 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. This sculpture was made entirely of CHOCOLATE by the Grand Floridian Resort pastry chefs.

It originally debuted as a part of The Chocolate Experience: From Bean to the Bar Hosted by Ghirardelli during the 2018 festival. The exhibit featured several AMAZING chocolate sculptures by pastry teams around Disney World.

At first glance, An African Leopard Resting in the Savanna certainly doesn’t match the theming of Grand Floridian, but it was the pastry team HERE that created it! It’s pretty cool that it now has a permanent home in the lobby.

Plus, it might fit into the lobby a bit more than you think. A Grand Floridian Cast Member once told us that the resort is themed after luxury hotels where well-off guests would bring relics of their travels to display in the halls. Because of this, you might notice some mismatched furniture and stranger pieces displayed in this resort, almost as if guests brought them from their adventures!

So, if you think about it that way, it does KIND OF fit that this sculpture lives here. Maybe a guest brought a chocolate leopard from one of their trips! Did you know you can also find a squirrel cage in the lobby? Pretty cool!
