Merry Christmas Eve-Eve, everyone! With only TWO days until Christmas, we decided to try one of the last treats on our wish list!
We reported earlier that the Peppermint Cream Cheese Mousse is back at Satu’li Canteen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! We tried the treat last year and it’s making a comeback for a few short days. We headed into Pandora – World of Avatar to give this photogenic dessert another taste. (You know, for science!)
The dessert is a spinoff of the Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse you’ll find all year round at Satu’li Canteen. The holiday version is made with peppermint cream cheese mousse. The dessert is then topped with peppermint sauce, a chocolate shell, a piece of meringue, and Oreo cookie crumbles for $5.29. Right away, you’ll notice that this treat is begging to be photographed. It may come from a quick-service location, but it looks like a decadent dessert you’ll find at a full-service restaurant. Let’s dig in, shall we?
Last year, we noted that the treat had too much peppermint. We thought that the returning dessert had just the right amount of mint taste and creamy mousse to balance each other out. Disney either lightened WAY up on the mint or we’ve had enough peppermint this year so we’re more accustomed to the taste! Either way, this is one of our favorite holiday desserts we’ve had this year. And we’ve eaten A LOT of holiday treats so that’s saying something!
Some people may be averse to the thick texture of the “mousse.” We thought it edged on the side of a cheesecake texture rather than a mousse, by the way. Those who enjoy the texture of cheesecake and love the taste of peppermint will really enjoy this treat. Although, if you’re not a fan of creamy, rich desserts you might not enjoy the Peppermint Cream Cheese Mousse.
This dessert is a great way to wrap up our Holiday Treat Extravaganza of 2020. There may be more surprise treats on the way, but we very much enjoyed being reunited with the mousse again this year. The Peppermint Cream Cheese Mousse is available for a limited time until January 2nd, 2021.
