This time of year, gingerbread is a near-daily occurrence for us, and a CONSTANT craving! 

Fortunately, Disney World understands our spicy yearnings, and delivers with a veritable parade of endless gingerbread sweets. While we’ve certainly tried MANY gingerbread treats already, this latest arrival at BoardWalk Bakery earns bonus points by garnishing a cupcake with a cookie! 

Whether they’re filling cupcakes with cake pops or garnishing milkshakes with LITERAL SLICES OF PIE, Disney knows how to go the extra mile when it comes to desserts! 

This is ESPECIALLY true of its festive flavors for the holidays! So far we’ve fallen in love with a salted caramel-gingerbread sandwich situation, gingerbread cupcakes topped with adorable polar bears, and chipmunk-approved gingerbread churros. Next up is a cupcake that’s both FILLED and TOPPED with gingerbread! The whimsy simply can NOT be contained! 

The Gingerbread Cupcake is a newcomer at Boardwalk Bakery, which has swapped out its Mickey Cookies and Cream Cupcake for the Christmas-y creation! It’s a vanilla cupcake soaked in vanilla syrup and filled with fluffy gingerbread mousse. It’s then topped with a cloud of snowy cinnamon-infused cream, holiday-colored sprinkles, and a cute ’n’ crunchy gingerbread cookie garnish! The cinnamon balanced the sweetness of this cupcake perfectly, and honestly, this is one of the best cupcakes we’ve had in a while.

We appreciate the unique textures and layers here, especially since it seems most likeminded holiday desserts feature gingerbread as the base. So it’s exciting to see this cupcake go in a different direction by stuffing a VANILLA cake with gingerbread mousse! Also, as a good life rule, garnishing a cupcake with a cookie is just an amazing idea. The cookie was soft and not too sweet, like a traditional gingerbread cookie.

And, we have to be honest that it’s one of our favorite treats that we’ve had so far this holiday season period. You can snag one for yourself (and we highly recommend it) for $5.99 at the BoardWalk Bakery. It’s only scheduled to be available through December 25th, so grab it while you can!
