Will you be ringing in the New Year in Disney World?

Magic Kingdom

I’m sure that most of us are ready to leave 2020 behind, and some of us are lucky enough to be saying “Helloooooo, 2021!” in Disney World. If you’re headed out soon, you’ll want to look at that fickle Florida weather. Let’s check out next week’s forecast!

Weather Forecast

We’re gonna start the week with slightly more consistent temperatures than last week. The weather was ALL OVER the place this week so it’s nice to have something a little steadier. That said, temperatures will drop a little bit towards the end of the week. Check it out!

December 28th

Monday, December 28th, the high will be a little bit warmer than Sunday with a nice sunshiney 73 degrees. The low is a little bit higher in the mid-50s, but that’s still brisk temperatures for Florida!

This is another dry day but you could still find yourself shivering while you watch the holiday projections if you don’t layer up!

December 29th

When we reach Tuesday, December 29th, we should see yet another precipitation-free day. Temperatures are pretty similar to the prior day if slightly warmer with a 74-degree high and a 59-degree low.

Definitely don’t leave that pullover at home!

December 30th

On Wednesday, December 30th, the high warms up just a few degrees more…

…and the low does too! The chance of rain ups a little bit here, but it’s still relatively unlikely.

December 31st

For Thursday, December 31st, that high pops up to 79 degrees — the highest of the whole week!

The low is back down in the mid-50s so make sure you layer! You might be hot during the day to be cold late at night. New Year’s Eve also marks the highest percent chance of rain with around 40% chance of precipitation during the day and at night.

January 1st

We’re starting off 2021 with a big dip in temperatures back down to a 66-degree high and a 49-degree low for January 1st!

Those are some Florida winter tips! We’ll hopefully avoid rain on New Year’s Day, but there is a chance so maybe pack that poncho in your park bag.

January 2nd

And we’ll wrap up our holiday week on January 2nd with those temperatures sitting at a comfy 70-degree high and a brisk 54-degree low.

You probably won’t be sweating in Disney World this week. Florida winter is in full swing and that means surprisingly chilly temps in the evening. Keep in mind though, weather forecasts are ever-changing. These days could look VERY different from their projections so you’ll want to keep checking as you’re packing.

How Should You Plan?

If you are headed to Disney World next week, we’ve got a few tips on how to plan for the weather!

It’s time to pack those layers!

Our number one tip for winter in Orlando is to pack layers in both your luggage AND your daily park bag. A scarf or light jacket can do WONDERS when that surprising Florida chill hits. Plus, you won’t want to wear ONLY warm clothes since those days could get toasty! We like to make sure there’s a short-sleeved shirt under all those layers, just in case.

Winter Magic Hat and scarf

Eating your way around EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays isn’t nearly as fun if you’re not sporting the right apparel for the weather. If you DO find yourself dealing with chilly temps and not enough layers, head to a nearby store. Disney is stocked with lots of weather-braving options — even if they do tend to be a little pricy.

Health Measures can get tricky when it’s cold!

As we mentioned last week, stores can get more crowded during the day. Folks tend to head inside as the temps drop to get some of that heating, but this can create difficult social distancing situations even with capacity limitations.

Another thing we’ve noticed is that hand sanitizer plus cold days equals very, VERY dry skin. We definitely recommend packing a travel lotion to moisturize between all that hand sanitizer and hand washing.

We hope you bring in a GREAT New Year in Disney World next week and we hope this forecast helps you pack for it! We’ll be back next week with the first FULL weather update of 2021!
