This has been an exciting week for construction projects in Disney World!
We got a look at the brand-new, just revealed EPCOT fountain AND we FINALLY got our hands on those mega-delicious (and mega LARGE) cookies from the just-opened Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs! Those weren’t the only changes we noticed this week and we’re here to tell you about ALL of them!
Magic Kingdom
Rivers of America
Refurbishments are still continuing over on Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat.
It seems that even a dried-up riverbed can look pretty with a Disney sunset in the background, don’t ya think?
Check out the refurbishment projects going on at Disney World right now!
Main Street Train Station
The journey of the Main Street scrim continues! What first started as some very noticeable and very basic, brown scrim has now gradually transitioned into a full-blown facade of the train station!
It’s not doing the greatest job of blending in, but we definitely prefer this over the brown scrim!
It’s unclear how long this scrim will remain in place, as the Train Station has now remained closed for over two years due to the construction of TRON Lightcycle Run.
See photos of how the scrim looked last week!
Transportation and Ticket Center Parking Lot
We recently got a glimpse at an aerial view of the Magic Kingdom Parking Lot and Transportation and Ticket Center. The shot showed all the changes that have happened to the parking lot over the year and it looks like Disney has been working to improve traffic flow throughout the lot.
This is what the project looks like from the ground!
When park capacity is eventually increased, this will minimize bottlenecking and other traffic issues that happen in the crowded lots.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on this parking lot construction.

EPCOT
Entrance Fountain
Even a few days later we’re still trying to wrap our heads around the BEAUTY that is the new EPCOT fountain.
Even after checking out the previews shared by Disney Imagineers, we were still blown away by the finished project!
Even at night, she’s still a beaut.
We’re thrilled to see the first completed project of many coming to EPCOT as part of its transformation!
Check out more photos and videos of this NEW fountain!
Harmonious Nighttime Spectacular
Work continues on the new barges in the World Showcase Lagoon in preparation for EPCOT’s upcoming nighttime spectacular, Harmonious.
We’re going to keep checking on these barges to see any progress! Plus, how could we not? They’re kind of huge!
Check out more photos of the Harmonious Barges in EPCOT!
Future World
Construction continues in Future World at both Innoventions East and West. At Innoventions West, walls have entirely been removed leaving the bare bones of the building and roofing.
The spot that was once home to the Art of Disney is now stripped down to steel beams.
This area will eventually be part of the new World Celebration neighborhood as part of EPCOT’s transformation!
As we got closer to World Showcase, we noticed significantly low water levels near the Mexico Pavilion. This area specifically was nearly barren.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the demolitions and progress going on in Future World.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
We’ve continued to notice progress on the exterior of this upcoming Marvel coaster!
It appears that there is more wood paneling in place on the roof in comparison to last week!
Brown and gray scrims have been added to the front of the building!
Each week, we have noticed a little bit of progress on the exterior of this upcoming attraction. We’ll be sure to share any updates!

Disney Springs
Gideon’s Bakehouse
Another EXCITING project is completed and this one is pretty sweet! It feels like we’ve been trying to figure out when we’d be able to get our hands on the HUGE cookies and cake slices from Gideon’s Bakehouse for the longest time. And now, we can!!!
Gideon’s Bakehouse soft opened on the 23rd! Excitingly, we were able to taste what Gideon’s was serving up — cookies, coffee, and cake!
Here’s a quick peek inside Disney’s Springs’s newest location!
We’ve got posts chock full of reviews, menu items, and photos of our visit to Gideon’s Bakehouse!

M&M’s Store
Not much is looking different at the M&M’s Store this week. Maybe all the work is being done on the interior right now?
Slowly but surely, we’re making our way to that 2021 opening date.
The M&M’s Store is set to open in 2021!
Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew
After getting a peek inside this upcoming donut shop a few weeks ago, we’re growing more and more excited for Everglazed to open!
There’s a cute little spot outside for sipping on your cold brew and getting a bite of those over-the-top donuts!
Finally getting a taste of the cookies from Gideon’s Bakehouse will hold us over for now…but we’re still really looking forward to the opening of Everglazed Donuts!
Take a look at the donuts we can expect from Everglazed!
Disney Resorts
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Refurbishments continue over at the Polynesian Resort. But we think those cross beams are looking pretty good right now! We sure missed seeing them over the Great Ceremonial House for a short while!
We’ll keep the construction updates coming from this tropical resort!

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel
Although we haven’t been able to take a close look at all that’s going on to create the Galactic Starcruiser hotel, we’ve got an aerial view thanks to @bioreconstruct! This view shows us how Disney plans to shield the hotel from other Disney World guests.
