Some lucky folks are headed to Disney World next week. Are you one of them?

If you are, we want to make sure you’re ready! A very big thing to plan for is that wacky Florida weather. Your Disney week could see a wide range of temperatures and surprising precipitation, so we’re taking a look at the weather conditions that you can expect on your trip to Disney World.

Weather Forecast

We’re gonna start the week with slightly more consistent temperatures than last week. The weather was ALL OVER the place this week so it’s nice to have something a little steadier. That said, temperatures will drop a little bit towards the end of the week. Check it out!

December 20th

Based on The Weather Channel, Sunday, December 20th should be fairly warm in the daytime with a nice 74-degree high and a cooler night with a 50-degree low. The daytime should be downright comfy, but keep in mind you could find yourself getting chills as the sun goes down.

On top of that, the evening could see a few showers with a 33% chance of rain. Maybe consider bringing an insulated rain jacket to make sure you stay warm and dry if you’ll be out in the nighttime.

December 21st

Monday, December 21st, the high will be about the same as Sunday with a nice sunshiney 72 degrees. But that low is going to see a BIG drop. You might run into temps in the high 40s. Brr!!!

This day should be mostly dry, but those cool nighttime temperatures could mean a VERY chilly time trying to watch the holiday projections.

December 22nd

When we reach Tuesday, December 22nd, we should see a rainless day (but there is a chance, so keep a poncho in your bag just in case!). This is another case of a comfy low 70s day with a chilly high 40s low.

Definitely don’t leave that pullover at home! We said the low 50s was freezing last week so 49 degrees is REALLY, REALLY cold for Florida!

December 23rd

On Wednesday, December 23rd, the high warms up just a few degrees…

…and the low has about a ten-degree spike! Still, there’s a 30ish% chance of rain, so be prepared.

December 24th

For Thursday, December 24th, that high stays in a similar spot at 72 degrees.

That low starts to head back down on Thursday, and spoiler alert: It keeps getting chillier! Christmas Eve also marks the highest percent chance of rain with an almost 40% chance of precipitation during the day and at night.

December 25th

As we mentioned the end of the week dips into even COLDER temperatures for Christmas day!

We’re gonna see a dip down to a high of 64 degrees and a low of 47 degrees. Whew! It may not be a white Christmas here in Orlando, but it will certainly feel a little bit like the holidays with those temps!

December 26th

And we’ll wrap up our holiday week on December 26th with those temperatures stabilizing on the chillier side of the mid-60s high and mid-40s low.

Not sure how to manage chillier temperatures in Disney World! Don’t worry! We’ve TOTALLY got you covered with some cold weather tips in just a sec so have no fear. Even if you come from a cooler place than Florida, you might be surprised how those chills will creep up.

Overview of the Week

Here is a full overview of the week according to The Weather Channel. You’ll spot relatively consistent temperatures for the majority of the week until a pretty big dip this weekend. It looks like most days are pretty rain-free except for Thursday. Keep in mind though, Florida likes to hit us with those rainy curveballs!

You probably won’t be sweating in Disney World this week but we wouldn’t be surprised if you’re comfy in a t-shirt every once in a while. Those low evening temps still mean layering, layering, layering!

Weather Can Change!

Remember, weather forecasts aren’t always exactly right and the weather, especially in Florida, is ever-changing! These days could look VERY different from these forecasts so you’ll want to keep checking as you’re packing.

In fact, we recommend that you keep checking once you’re IN Disney too. You might feel like skipping the poncho in your day bag for extra space is a safe move, only to find the chance of rain has DOUBLED. Don’t get caught unawares, keep an eye on it!

How Should You Plan?

If you are headed to Disney World next week, we’ve got a few tips on how to plan for the weather!

It’s time to pack those layers!

Our number one tip for winter in Disney World is to pack layers in both your luggage AND your daily park bag. A scarf or light jacket can do WONDERS when that surprising Florida chill hits.

The weather can change super fast and it can be a lot harder to brave temperatures when you’re trying to eat your way around EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. If you DO find yourself dealing with chilly temps and not enough layers, head to a nearby merch store. We’ve seen LOTS of cute pullovers, jackets, hats, and gloves that will serve ya well in a pinch — even if your wallet might not be too happy after.

Bring that sun protection!

It can certainly be tempting to skip the sunscreen hassle in the winter since it doesn’t feel like you need it as much in the wintertime, but don’t skip it! You’ll want to bring sunglasses or a hat, and PLENTY of sunscreen.

The sun can even feel a little BRIGHTER in winter IMO. So don’t skip out on your fun sunnies and DON’T think that your skin is safe from those UV rays. Sunburns hurt no matter how chilly the temperatures are so make sure you and your fam are lathered up and sunburn-free.

Health Measures can get tricky when it’s cold!

As we mentioned last week, you may want to keep an eye out for crowds in the merchandise shops towards the later hours of the day. Merch shops are HEATED, so the colder it gets outside, the more people will flock inside. This is of course a social distancing concern right now. Though the stores do have capacity limits, you might have a much easier time when you’re not contending with a bunch of other chilled guests.

On top of that, we’ve found that chilly days ARE NOT A GOOD MATCH for hand-sanitizer-covered hands. We were SHOCKED how quickly our palms dried out with the constant sanitizing and hand-washing. We definitely recommend bringing a travel-sized lotion along to keep your hands feeling comfy AND clean.
