Lunar New Year starts this year on February 12, and this will be the Year of the Ox. We recently spotted some merchandise at EPCOT’s China pavilion, but there’s some even more exciting merchandise available on shopDisney. The spirit jersey that we found at EPCOT is available, but in a Disneyland version. There’s also the Lunar New Year mouse ears that we found at Walt Disney World. But most exciting are a few special items that we haven’t seen in the parks.
Red Envelopes
One of my favorite traditions at Lunar New Year is the exchanging of red envelopes. My family goes a bit non-traditional in that everyone in the family, not just the kids, get to have one–after all, we’re all kids at heart, right? These red envelopes are from Disneyland and come in a set of six for $9.99, with two each of Mickey (for good fortune), Minnie (for prosperity), and Donald (for good luck).
Mickey and Minnie Plush from Shanghai
It isn’t unusual to see items from both Disneyland and Walt Disney World on shopDisney, but it is more unusual to see merchandise from international parks. These 17″ tall plush were made especially for Shanghai Disneyland, but can be ordered through shopDisney. Mickey and Minnie are all decked out for the holiday in red outfits with gold accents. Each one also has the Shanghai Disneyland logo on his or her foot. Each one is $22.99.
Mickey and Friends Lunar New Year Magnets
Created for the Disneyland Resort, this set of magnets is simply precious. Each colorful character magnet embodies a different blessing: Mickey (Good luck), Minnie (Prosperity), Donald (Fortune), Chip (Happiness), and Dale (longevity). The set of 5 is $14.99.
Would you want to bring in the Lunar New Year with these items? Which is your favorite? Let us know in the comments.
